Bye-bye, Brady! Oh, and screw the Pats
Well, I was curious to see how the folks over at SB Nation's New England Patriots blog were taking the news that Tom Brady is officially lost for the season with his knee injury. So, I stopped over at Pats Pulpit.
What did I find? A cheap shot at Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning, that's what.
The Giants won with Eli Manning last year and as far as I could tell before they "caught lightning in a bottle", Eli was eligible for the special olympics. So, we'll see how this plays out.
Well, any sympathy I might have had for the Patriots has now been flushed down the toilet. Screw them! I hope they win 5 games.

Sooooo
Basically what that Pats fan is saying is that the Patriots got beat in the Super Bowl by the retarded kid down the street?

I'll cut them some slack...
…it’s been a rough last two games, hasn’t it?
That said, I really hope they crater and miss the playoffs w/o Brady. It would do my heart good to see Little Bill coaching meaningless games this December.
Phil Simms is on w/Francesa right now, talking about Matt Cassel as if he’s Johnny Unitas reincarnated. I’ve never heard this guy talked up in this manner before. (Though it’s worth noting that he was stuck behind Carson Palmer on the USC depth chart, much the way Brady was stuck behind Drew Henson at Michigan).

Cassel
Who knows what will happen? The Eli cheap shot just struck a nerve.

Feh. I didn’t see them crying us a river when #72 was carted off.

This literal reading of my post...
…is killing me. I was trying to be condescending and smug (like a Pats/Red Sox fan). Obviously I didn’t pull it off. Refer to my second paragraph. Nothing would please me more than to see them go 6-10, however unlikely that is in the AFC LEAST.

Pats
I’m sorry, but I don’t see that team tanking. Are they top god anymore? No, but they’ll still be very good. Everyone is now saying the Jets are the best team in the division … sorry. The Pats could throw Dave Brown out there at QB and they’d still be better than the Jets. On that note, I think the Bills might be better than the Jets too. Not exactly a resounding win against the worst team in the league.
I do hear you about that Pats fan though Ed. It’s uncalled for and very “special olympics” of him.
by potroast on Sep 8, 2008 4:07 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Yep
that’s what got me. I agree that the Pats will still be good. But it wouldn’t exactly bother me to see them tank.

Remember, Brady emerged when
Drew Bledsoe got injured. Brady may be back next year, but like McNabb and others, he won’t be 100% for two years. A lot of things can happen by then.

everyone keeps saying that
But Blesdoe wasn’t a MVP either

Picking on Eli
is low. I mean, I hate the Pats, I hate Brady and even I’m sorry for them that he’s hurt. They are just in panic mode right now…wait ’til the reality really sets in!

I don't have any sympathy for them
But they’re still going to win 12 or 13 games. They’ve got a soft schedule and Brady is neither as good nor as important to them as ESPN would have you believe.
by JoshNY on Sep 8, 2008 4:40 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Bright side
At least ESPN will have a reason to stop talking about No. 4 now.
by Ed Valentine on Sep 8, 2008 4:44 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
12 or 13 games?
no way. they barely beat the worst team in the NFL at home yesterday.
even with the soft schedule, they’ll be lucky to win eight. Brady makes everybody around him better. oh, and it’s about time a Boston team had some bad luck.

Fair point
But I think this neglects the importance of coaching and preparation. They went into that game thinking they were going to easily move the ball through the air, and they had to revise their plan mid-stream; that’s something even the best offensive coordinators are going to have a hard time with. I apologize for not having the stat in front of me, but I read that before Brady went out of the game they were throwing the ball twice as often as they ran, and after it was the opposite. With a full week to plan to feed Maroney 35 or 40 times and run a lot of play action and short patterns, I think Belichick and McDaniels and Cassel will be ready. They pulled it off when Brady was inexperienced.

Moss
If Moss stays motivated, he’s still Randy Moss. Even Gus Ferrote was throwing 50 yd bombs to him

someone should send Pats' pulpit
some of Tom Brady’s combine photos. You know, the ones where the dreamboat looks like an undersized plucked chicken. At least in the special olympics there’s competition based on physical acumen. In those photos all Brady appears to be good for is assisting those who have inadvertently locked their keys in their car.

…..Sorry, but could there be a more attractive woman on the face of the earth?

I'm a woman
so that is a difficult question for me to answer. I will leave it to you boys. ;)

Yes. Adriana Lima
I’d post pics, but I’m at work.

Uh, Oh!
I’m only finding crappy Rams cheerleader pics this week. So, I’m thinking Giselle pics maybe, in honor of the woman who will have to comfort Tom Brady through this incredibly difficult time in his life. Hmmm ….

Now, I sneak some real football in around the pics. Trying to keep everybody happy. Seriously, I love beautiful women, but that is not what I want people to come here for.

Apologies
Sorry NY/Kentucky….
We all love football, and we all love the gorgeous women that go along with it, whether it is the odd cheerleader here or there, or, you know, Tom Brady’s GF.
(BTW: I think Giselle is definitely way hotter than A.Lima.)

Well, I like
to consider myself a beautiful woman, too. Hey, I was once told that I put the “hot” in hotmail. (There’s a line for ya.) Ha. So there. lol
I guess I will have to deal with the cheesecake. Of course, I am always up for a little beefcake and Ed has obliged me a couple of times so I am thankful for that.

Cheesecake
Hey, we all need to have a little fun. I won’t ever let this place become a ‘With Leather’ or ‘Sports By Brooks,’ though, where the site is all about the cheesecake and not the sports. First and foremost, this site is — and will remain — about the Giants.

Special Olympics?
I know they are in pain, but its sad to see Patriot’s fans lash out like that.
All I can say is, at least our quarterback plan does not include names like “Chris Simms”.
Just waiting on number 27.

Chris Simms
if and when the Giants sign a No. 3 QB, you wouldn’t be in favor of the guy being Chris Simms? I would. He’s better than J-Load.

Eh...
…he couldn’t beat out Major Applewhite at Texas. One of those guys that looks like a QB and throws a pretty ball, but what’s he ever done? I suppose as a 3rd QB he’s serviceable.
