New York Giants' Thursday notebook, 09.04

A quick look around at what others are writing about the Giants as we wait anxiously for tonight's kickoff.

There is lots of talk about the defense of the Super Bowl title.

I can't wait

I have class tonight from 6-7:30, which is probably going to seem like the longest class in the history of the world, but then it’s GIANT’S FOOTBALL!

Tape the game

Keep your head in the books………………..and get to a TV…………FAST!!!

We're only gonna score 17 points?

oh

I’ve got the DVR pre-set, no worries there. Actually like it better this way, I get to skip most of the commercials.

Well

not to screw up your education, but … go buy a small hand-held TV, hide it from the prof, keep the sound off and watch from the opening kickoff! LOL!!

Well, I am a professor

and I have canceled class tonight. :)

There you go

That’s my kind of teacher!

by Ed Valentine on Sep 4, 2008 12:06 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Unfortunately, none of my

students are Giants fans. Funny thing is, I live in KY, and I have a Giants license plate on my car. Kind of surprised none of my students have put two-and-two together. Of course, it’s best this way. Not going to break out my new Giants shirt until I am on the way to BW3s.

damn, that's awesome

funny thing is, I go to school in DC, so I am hoping my prof is a Skins fan and lets us out early.

I personally..

…have not read a single publication that predicts more than 9 wins for us. Perfect.

by drunkUncle on Sep 4, 2008 12:19 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

exactly

It’s the Giants role … they always turn out much different than the experts think and I can’t see them turning out the other way.

I'm in my office

in my Sehorn jersey. it’s faded and way too big, but I wore it for GB and the Super Bowl, so I’ll wear it til we lose.

School

Since we are talking school, my “signature” line under my name in my Middle School yearbook was “Hopeless Giants Fan”

I am looking forward to debuting my new Ahmad Bradshaw SB 42 jersey tonight. My brother bought it at Modells for $20 and shipped it down.

Uncle, I predicted 11-5 before Osi went down, I’m sticking by it.

I'm wearing

my white Manning jersey (the one from his rookie year, not the current white ones with the red stripes) that I have worn for every game starting with the Buffalo game last year.

It’s my lucky jersey. I wore it when I went home for the Eagles/Giants game last year (11 sacks game), but accidentally left it at home and didn’t get it back till I went home for winter break. I then wore it for the Buffalo game, the first Pats game, and all 4 playoff games. Hopefully the luck sticks with it.

Lucky jersey

At least it’s not the red one. Man, I still hate those red jerseys. The Giants are Big Blue, not Rockin’ Red.

by Ed Valentine on Sep 4, 2008 3:37 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

ugh

the red jerseys are the worst. How much cooler would it be if instead of wearing the red jerseys once or twice a year, they did a throwback night when they could wear the 80’s Unis, with the underlined Giants on the helmet?

by cjmulrain on Sep 4, 2008 4:35 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I love the 80's/90's throwboacks

Reminds me of the few bright spots, like…uhhh…Big Blue with Kent Graham beating the Broncos to disrupt the perfect season, and….what else….

I guess those were lean days, no??

by Cody K on Sep 4, 2008 5:19 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I wear the same one

but I wear it for road games only. It seems that it had pretty good luck last year too, since they were the Road Warriors. My home jersey is a Strahan home. I’m not sure if I should retire it and wear my new Eli home jersey or wear it anyway. I’m going to have to make up my mind pretty soon!

by potroast on Sep 4, 2008 3:58 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

nice

I used to wear my blue Shockey jersey the majority of the time, but the numbers have kinda faded, and now that he’s not on the team any more I’m looking to get a new one. I want to get a defensive players jersey, but can’t decide between Tuck, Osi, Strahan, or retro LT.

I have back to school night

I’m a teacher and I can’t get out of back to school night tonight.

Even my students told me not to show up. Only if I were tenured…

I’ll see the 2nd half :/

DVR, Woogie

and welcome aboard! I think this is the first time i’ve seen you post in the comments.

IT'S GAME DAY!!!!

I work at the premiere sports bar in Toronto, but I booked tonight off. I’ve got my Eli on-field home jersey and sideline hat ready to go. After a long summer of research I’m armed with NFL knowledge to put any loud-mouthed ‘Skins fan to shame. I haven’t shaved, my beer is on ice and I’ve got a copy of “The Drunken Sailor With Tourette’s Syndrome Thesaurus” just in case I run out of expletives and crass verbs and adjectives to use in describing the players and coaches of the Washington Redskins. It’s finally gameday boys and girls. At long last it’s actually here. We are entering the season as champions that the ignorant would describe as “a team that got hot at the right time”. It’s time to prove the unenlightened wrong… GO BIG BLUE!!!

Sports Bar

So, when are you inviting the members of Big Blue View Nation for a celebration?

by Ed Valentine on Sep 4, 2008 4:12 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

every skins fan....

…who chats me today immediately gets this sent back to them

by queler on Sep 4, 2008 4:59 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

if you were really mean

you’d send them the youtube video of LT destroying Theismann’s leg…

by cjmulrain on Sep 4, 2008 5:13 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Still one of the most brutal moments in sports

I remember watching that game and cringing when they would play back Theismann yelling. or is that just my memory? I do remember LT pacing back and forth when they were working on him. He was pretty upset. or was he just pissed that play stopped for a while?
