Oh, oh! Not more good press!

Peter King is now claiming that the best team in football after the Cowboys & Eagles losses is our New York Giants:

"Somewhere in between the Cowboys giving up 37 points to the Eagles and 381 yards to the Redskins -- both at home -- and listening to Terrell Owens complain last night that he's not getting the ball enough, I came to realize the team with the best talent is not the best team. At least not now. The Giants have retained the hunger of a team on the verge of winning a Super Bowl -- not of a team that just won one. In training camp, Justin Tuck told me the defensive linemen were sitting around at the team's Super Bowl party in Phoenix three hours after the game last February, all talking about winning another one instead of how they were going to celebrate this one. The Giants are deep at running back and wide receiver (even with the Plaxico Burress fireworks), have a workmanlike and versatile offensive line, are surviving the killer losses of Michael Strahan and Osi Umenyiora, and are maturing in the secondary. Will they win again? If they don't get a big injury on defense, and if Eli Manning continues his steady climb as a passer and leader, the answer is yes."

While I'm happy that at least 1 "expert" realizes that the best team is not always the one with all the big names, it worries me that the Giants are getting so much love. Let's hope their heads don't swell like they have in the past.

I'm with you Pot

I’m not getting that feeling like their heads will swell. Sometimes the teams with the biggest egos (and web surfing trolls) are not the best they could be because of it.

We're only gonna score 17 points?

King is an ass

If the Giants lose to Seattle on a late FG, he’ll rank them 9th next week.

In a way, I’m bummed out that we’re not playing Dallas/Philly earlier in the season. I’m really anxious to see how we look against those guys.

Honestly

I like the see the offense get a little more in sync before we play them.

Agreed

Not for nothing but through the first 3 games. The Giants are trying to make a passable, run of the mill offense (Titans), into a powerhouse (Colts 04’ Pats 07’, granted it won’t be that good but the talent is there for it). They have the weapons. A Gelled O-line, 3 RB’s (all capable of starting), Big-Play Plax, Vet Tooms, and Big Hands Boss, not to mention the “other” receivers, and a QB who finally seems comfortable of having the Franchise on his shoulders. If these guys can average 28 ppg there is no way we lose more than 4 games. The coaches and players all seem to have the right idea. Its just a matter of time. By the time the Boys’ come to town we should be punching the ball in the end zone at a better clip. Can’t wait.

One more thing anyone annoyed that Tooms is the only one running deep routes?

Disgusting ...

I don’t know if you guys have heard about this yet, but a Seahawks’ fan site put up a post of 9/11 jokes for the upcoming Giants game. It’s causing a bug outcry and rightly so. Warning: you might not want to read what he actually posted. It’s really disgusting.

I heard it

I thought about posting about it, but I don’t even want to go into it. It’s classless, tasteless, disgusting, whatever word you want to use. I can’t even believe a human being — anywhere in this country — would think that kind of stuff is funny.

I can see why you didn't want to post it

I probably should have left it alone.

It's OK that you mentioned it

it’s just really, really disgusting. My comment is that this moron should have his passport to the human race revoked.

just pathetic

i saw it, and i gt that those jokes are going to be made and circulated on the internet, but to repeat them in an effort to get a fan base exciting for a football game i the height of repulsiveness. just absolutely god damn disgusting. utter and totally moronic.

Ralph Vacchiano

In the Daily News had that on his blog Saturday.

Again nice to see the Giants getting some respect. I have to agree with King, this team is not playing like they are satisfied with one ring.

This Giant team might be ready to win (and be praised for it)

With the departure of Tiki, Shockey, Strahan, etc. the Giants are no longer the get wrapped up in themselves, get caught up in the hype type of team they have been in the past. Winning the SB has given what is basically a young team the confidence that they can come through when they need to because they have already done it. That is the difference between them and the Cowboys, and Eagles for that matter.

Who needs a Super Bowl win?

Now that Peter King has the Giants ranked #1, my season is complete. It just doesn’t get any better than this.
