GIANTS SUSPEND PLAXICO BURRESS

Plaxico Burress has been suspended by the New York Giants, according to FOX Sports.

FOXSports.com has learned that the Giants have suspended Burress for two weeks for failing to show up for work on Monday and not responding to several phone calls by the team to explain his unexcused absence both Monday and Tuesday.

The star wideout, who was just rewarded with a new lucrative contract three weeks ago, was slated to meet with team officials early this morning to explain why he would've violated team rules and failed to return several phone calls explaining his whereabouts.

The excuse apparently was not good enough and head coach Tom Coughlin told the team this morning of the predicament and subsequent punishment.

The suspension means Burress will miss two weeks worth of pay as well as next week's game vs. the Seahawks.

This is not good. I'm sure we will hear much more about this over the next few days. So much for all that peace and quiet around the Giants.

Okay, just so I understand it... in your wildest fantasy, you are in hell. And you are co-running a bed and breakfast with the devil.

I gotta give Coughlin credit here

If Plax broke the rules, Coughlin shows him no one is above the team.

I was kind of hoping Plax had gotten past all this immature crap.

He had no choice

with the tough love they’ve been showing Bradshaw and Manningham. I also think some of those training camp injuries might have been an outgrowth of Strahan skipping camp last year.

Steve Smith

Mr. Smith has an opportunity to step up in Plax’s absent. I agree with Jim, no one is above the rules ,no matter how much they get paid.

Rules

Yep. TC has to step on Plax here. I hope his teammates do the same. This is stupid.

the Panthers

went 2-0 without their Steve Smith, so I’m sure we can win 2 without Plax, although I’d prefer not to have to. Hopefully this whole mess gets sorted out soon.

And the Eagles haven't had their top two receivers ...

oh wait, never mind. You were talking about good receivers. I get it now.

Only have to win one

With the bye this weekend, Plax will only miss one game

good point

I automatically associate 2 weeks with 2 games. One game isn’t bad at all, although I would prefer if it wasn’t against the Seahawks, who are probably the best team the Giants will play until the end of October. Oh well…

hope he learns

Perhaps in other years I would be worried, however with Steve and Hixon coming along, not. However I hope this is a one time issue with Plax, otherwise is going to be a long season dealing with him

FYI

In light of the Plaxico situation, the Wednesday Walk Around the NFL will be up early this evening.

he's going to have to

Steve Smith and Toomer can’t stretch the field like Plax

He can't blame injuries anymore...

maybe he told TC: I was just trying to be like the greatest Giant of all time: Lawrence Taylor. I had the hookers and the blow just like he did, but I’m even better because I didn’t pass out in my car and get caught!

Ed hit a good point at the end

While missing Plax for 1 game is not the end of the world, the media circus that is about to ensue IS a big deal. Way to think about #1 Plax.

Domestic Violence

Apparently, Plax’s wife has called the police twice. Once in July and once in August. Perhaps there was more of the same?

We're gonna STOMP you out!
