Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Shockey out 3 to 6 weeks

This from ESPN.com:

-New Orleans Saints tight end Jeremy Shockey will have sports hernia surgery this week and will miss three to six weeks.

The story was first reported by The (New Orleans) Times-Picayune. The injury had been bothering Shockey for weeks, the newspaper said, but was aggravated in Sunday's 34-32 loss to the Denver Broncos.

Of course this shouldn't be a surprise to anybody. Shock has been pretty banged up the last few years and his questionable health was one of the main reasons the trade didn't sting so much (well, at all). I do feel for the Saints though. They are having some tough luck so far this season.

ah crap

as if my fantasy team wasn’t looking pathetic enough already, now I have to go pickup another TE. I hate you, Jeremy.

remember

it could turn into a 1st rounder if Vilma plays most of the season. Something tells me if the Saints keep struggling, Vilma won’t be seeing the field much the last few weeks, but how awesome would it be to get their first pick if it’s in the top half of the first round? Imagine what Reese could do with 2 first rounders?

Boss is Gold

At least the giants aren’t paying a Banged up physically and mentally Tight End. Boss is a team player and is always willing to get the job done (As Shockey did). The salary cut of Shockey’s contract probably gave them enough money to extend Burress contract. Now the g-men have a happy WR.
