Giants vs. Bengals: Week 3 Open Thread

NEW YORK GIANTS (2-0) GAME #3 CINCINNATI BENGALS (0-2)
Giants_icon_medium
VS. Bengals_icon_medium

Date: September 21, 2008 Location: East Rutherford, NJ
Time: 1 p.m. EST
Stadium: Giants Stadium
TV: CBS
Radio: WFAN (660 AM)
Final Score: Giants 26, Bengals 23 (OT)

Here is your Open Thread for today's game against the Cincinnati Bengals. I will be in and out today, and will probably have to DVR the second half.

I don't know about you guys, but I am extremely nervous about this game. All the respect the Giants seem to be getting lately, the under-achieving Bengals being in town and the Giants history of making things harder on themselves than they have to be are part of that.

I hope I'm wrong. Remember, leave your browser open to the comments to follow along 'live blog' style.

Enjoy the game!

Lets Go Big Blue!

I also won’t be online. Damn Redskins are on at 1 again, so I’ll be heading to a bar to catch the game (then, unfortunately, am being forced to watch the Eagles/Steelers game with my Eagles fan friend). Go Giants & Steelers!

How could any Giants fan

Ever do that? Oh wait, I know how, he was drunk.

If I was in the parking lot and saw that, I would have stopped it. You just don’t do that.

I’m with Garafolo on this one. Very curious why McDougle is not playing. He was solid last week.

Saw MG

on NFL Net this morning, talking about the Boss story, good stuff.

Could McDougle’s inactiveness be for disciplinary reasons?

anyone know what the Red Zone TD/FG ratio this year is?

the Washington game wasn’t good, and the St. Louis game had multiple TDs of 20+ yards, and they’ve settled for two chippies today.

there’s no team in the NFL that plays shittier on their homefield. inexcusable.

I wonder if it has to do with

having two games on film. The first game was Kiwanuka’s. The second game was Tuck’s This is Robbins’. There’s a lot of talent on the line but if they’re not dominating, the rest of the defense becomes ordinary.

WTF happened

I’m stuck in Tampa and i didn’t go to a bar, figured any drama would be bad drama, the bucs are in OT so I’m not going to get any info from fox. the NFL website just shows one long drive bar from the 35 to the 3, was that one long play?

Victory!

Hey, not always pretty. But, a win is a win is a win. These are pro teams, not pansies. 3-0, and I’ll take it.

Hey Gentlemen -

Excellent win today! Not at our best and plenty of missed opportunities, but they got it done when it counted, so good for them, and us!

Spage has a little work to do in the film room this week, I’m sure, but it undoubtedly a lot more exciting to do that after a hard-fought win.

Watch me paste this pathetic palooka with a powerful paralyzing perfect pachyderms percussion pitch.

by Mr. Met on Sep 21, 2008 6:50 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

It wasn't the prettiest win

but after tonight the Giants are one of 2 undefeated teams in the NFC (go Packers!), and does anyone really think the Bills(?)and the Titans(?!) are better than the GMen?

The secondary wasn’t great, although I did see a lot of Ross early on and a lot of Webster the whole game. Jacobs was disappointing, but Ward looked great. Did Bradshaw even get any carries? Boss had a nice game, as did Steve Smith, and Eli is really maturing into a very good NFL QB. Cofield and Robbins are playing like they’re jealous of all the attention the DE’s have gotten over the past year. Who needs Strahan and Osi with all the pressure those guys are getting (the last drive of regulation not included). Overall a tense game, but I’ll take the win and one of the 2 best records in the NFC.

by cjmulrain on Sep 21, 2008 8:04 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Robbins

What got into him? He was mediocre tackle must of his career and just been playing like a man possessed the last three years

by queler on Sep 21, 2008 10:33 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Sorry

one more point:

There’s only 5 undefeated teams left in the NFL (4 after tonight) 3 weeks in. I’d be SHOCKED if any of them are undefeated after week 7. Just goes to show how incredible what the Pats did last year was, and how equally amazing the Giants win in the SB was.
