Here is your Open Thread for today's New York Giants-St. Louis Rams matchup.
As always, keep your browser open to the 'comments' section to follow along 'live-blog' style throughout the game.
I won't be moderating today. I will be out on the soccer field watching my 12-year-old play (and, yes, sneaking peaks at the game on my hand-held TV). Our man 'jrs' will be moderating, thanks to his brand-spanking new laptop -- paid for with all that blood and sweat he has given to the site in recent months.
Anyway, keep the comments coming during the game. I doubt we will reach the 255 we had on opening night, but triple-digits would be nice.
I will, of course, DVR the game and have 'Kudos & Wet Willies' Monday morning.
Enjoy! Go Big Blue!
- Injury Report
- While you are waiting for kickoff, go read Steve Serby's Sunday Q&A with Plaxico Burress. Great stuff.

Love that Plax.
Love that contract he signed.
I am in stormy St. Louis right now
awaiting game-time. (And, yes, I am starting Eli again in both of my fantasy leagues. My heart will not allow me to do otherwise.) The Giants fans in town seem to think we will devour the Rams’ secondary just like the Eagles last week. Let’s hope so.
Go Big Blue!
We're gonna STOMP you out!
I only took
one picture at the game. When they were doing their warm-ups and Coughlin was shaking everyone’s hands. I totally forgot to click more. Of course, my phone’s camera is kind of sad and from the upper level they sort of look like ants in the pic. I could see fine though (which is the important part, right?).
In the first half, Eli had a few discussions with Gilbride on the sideline. It seems like they are not eye-to-eye on some things. Not sure if Eli was mis-throwing (a word?) or if the receivers were not running the right routes. Anyway, Plax jumped into those discussions, too, and sure enough in the second half they went to him a bit more.
The Rams fans were totally into after that fluke touchdown by Holt, but we took away their fire pretty quickly after that. I felt sort of badly for them, honestly. I tried to be low-key, so as not to offend.
By the way, David Carr is very handsome. ;)
We're gonna STOMP you out!

Sounds like a plan!
By the way, the storm precluded any tailgating yesterday so we were all crowded around the building waiting to get in. For some reason, they did not let us in until 10:45am, but their electronic announcement said 10:30am (Giants fans did not handle that very well. lol). Anyway, there were two ladies behind me on line and we were chatting. One of them said to me, this is one of the Giants players’s mom. She was wearing a 39 shirt. I didn’t recognize the number, so I asked what position he played and she said, “Fullback.” I was like, “Oh, Hedgecock. He’s good.” And I told her to tell him to tell Eli to throw the ball more because I have him on both of my fantasy football teams. lol Not sure she knows what fantasy football is, but she agreed to tell him. And then he threw to Madison in the first quarter! :)
We're gonna STOMP you out!
Damn!
Schmoozing with the moms. Going to games. Affecting the game plan. Still can’t beat in Fantasy Football, though. LOL!

I don't want to be a downer, but
I’m really hoping that this isn’t a let down game. Our boys have a habit of taking F teams too lightly and letting them make a game out of it. We’re a better team than Philly so we should be able to beat them handidly.
ah yes
the substitute teacher has arrived. Playing hurt today, fighting a upper respiratory infection and a nasty cold. Got a 64 oz mug of Kool Aid on ice, ready to go!
For those of you that don’t know, I am in South Florida. The game is on local TV here today, but I also have the NFL Sunday ticket “Game Mix” on my smaller TV here in the living room, so I will provide updates on other games around the NFL as the games go on.
One thing before we get started, all the best to our friends at www.battleredblog.com and everyone else in the Houston area. Hope you are all safe.

Inactives for today
CB R.W. McQuarters (calf) is inactive for today’s game, which means Domenik Hixon will be returning punts. Also, RB Reuben Droughns is active after sitting out last week. RB Danny Ware is inactive.
For the Rams starting G Jacob Bell (hamstring) is inactive and so are WR Eddie Kennison, who was signed earlier this week, and RB Brian Leonard, the former Rutgers star who was inactive in Week 1 because of a shoulder injury but was not on the injury report this week.

making their DT situation even worse. right now, they have Keyunta Dawson (7th round pick in 2007) and Eric Foster (undrafted free agent out of Rutgers) up front. Dawson is 6’3 254, Foster is 6’2 265. just a side note: Brandon Jacobs is 6’4, 264.

Bottom line, the Giants should be up by more and if they let the Rams win because they couldn’t score more than 20 points with 400 yards of offense, then they don’t deserve to win
if they lose to this sorry team
they don’t deserve to play in the National Football League.

I agree, TUCK!
But Smith showed great run-after-catch, even though it was called back. Hixon is a legit 3rd WR, even though he’s a 4th. Jacobs, Wade, Bradshaw — wow. And it all starts with the O-line.
On defense, I think the secondary is greatly improved over last year. No interceptions, but lots of passes defensed. But the D-line is awesome. Last week it was Kiwanuka. This week it was Tuck. I feel sorry for Cofield; 2 sacks and he’s hardly noticed.

I wasn't able to watch the game
the Skins game was on TV here, obviously, and after last night the thought of even going within a mile of an establishment that serves alcohol makes my stomach turn, so I didn’t go to a sports bar….sounds like it was a great win. Good to see Eli had a great game, and it sounds like the defense was awesome. Just looking at the stats, they ran for 200 yards and averaged 6.5 YPC…if they run like this all season, look out NFL!
By the way, I’d just like to say I told you so about the final score not being close!
What impressed me most re the game
is the depth the giants have at so many positions. The’boys may have the stars, but with the depth he has available, TC can keep the troops fresh and launch them into the game in waves (particularly Spags with the D.) By the way, didn’t I say bad weather was Giants weather? Even if the game is played in a dome, it’s Giants weather.

you need Sunday Ticket. Smartest thing I ever did, it pays for itself when I consider all the money I would spend going out to watch the games.

I would love to get it
but with paying for school and not having any income right now, I just can’t afford it. Plus, my roomate hates sports and wouldn’t go in on it with me. Next year, when I (hopefully) have a job, I’m definitely gonna get it.
What’s weird is that last year, through some scheduling quirk, I got every single Giants game on TV down here…the only one that wasn’t on was the Buffalo game, but I was home in NY for that one so I saw it anyway.
