STRAHAN TURNS DOWN GIANTS OFFER

According to this report (to Fox Sports), Strahan is staying retired:

"This has been one of the toughest nights of my life," Strahan told FoxSports.com in a story released Tuesday afternoon. "But after long deliberation and throwing around a million scenarios in my head for the past day, I think it's just best if I stay retired."

Ahhhhhh.....Well gents; at least that was quick and he made a decisive decision and didn't string anyone along.

We'll be ok, lads -

Strahan

It’s nice to see a retired athlete treat the situation with some class. I am gonna miss Strahan even more than I originally thought, but I think the defense will be alright.

Part of me is sad

But part of me says “good for him”, nice to see an athlete be able to walk away and stick to it, like Cody said, not stringing along the fans or making selfish demands like some other recently “retired, no I’m not, yes I am, no I’m not, trade me waaaaah” athletes.

Best of luck to Mike

Completely off topic

But I was just reading TMQ’s NFC preview on ESPN.com, apparently if Jonathon Vilma plays 85% of defensive snaps for the Saints, the pick that was traded to the Jets becomes a 2nd round pick and the 2nd round pick they traded to the Giants for Shockey becomes a first rounder. Anyone know if that’s true? If so, I just became a HUGE Vilma fan (and I already was a Vilma fan, I like U Miami guys).

That is

what has been reported in several places. So, it is apparently possible that the Giants get a No. 1 for Shockey, which is pretty amazing.

See, now, that's how you do it.

Paging Brett Favre, paging Brett Favre. Put down your mirror and take note.

As Mr. Sloan always says, there is no "I" in team, but there is an "I" in pie. And there's an "I" in meat pie. Anagram of meat is team... I don't know what he's talking about. --Shaun of the Dead
