Training camp report
"God bless coach Coughlin."
Those are the words of New York Giants' defensive end Dave Tollefson, whom Coughlin will allow to leave the team for a few days next week to be present for the birth of his first child.
Amazing! It wasn't that long ago when no one would have ever said anything remotely close to that about Coughlin.
Tollefson's story, by the way, is an interesting one. Check out the nice piece of work by Paul Schwartz of the New York Post.
- Jeremy who? Plaxico who? Kevin Boss and Domenic Hixon have taken advantage of their opportunities thus far in training camp and are drawing considerable amounts of attention.
- The Star Ledger's Mike Garafolo has reports on Friday's practices. The morning session and the evening session.
- The Dallas Morning News has an interesting look at the Giants' offensive line. Included is something I didn't realize -- the fact that the Giants are the only team in the NFC East without a first-round draft pick on its offensive line.
- Giants.com has a nice profile of Danny Clark, who is looking more and more like a starting outside linebacker since Gerris Wilkinson has yet to get on the field with a knee injury.

Oh, I'm excited
Football is starting to pick up again; I’ll have a time-consuming, nicely scheduled distraction from school again.
The news about Hixon is great.
We knew he had the blazing speed, but who knew he had great hands? Any idea who the return men might be? Hixon in the mix? Does Pope have a shot? More good news—It seems we have more depth at TE than we thought. Olivea looks like another of Reese’s steals.
I have a feeling
Wilkinson doesn’t survive training camp as a Giant. Just a hunch

Well
If he can’t get on the field you aren’t taking a big leap. IR maybe? We’ll see.
