Intrepid blogger gets to practice
Yes, I made it out to training camp for a while last night, until the torrential downpour that hit halfway through practice sent me running for my car. As you can see, I snapped a few pictures with my digital camera -- including one of the Lombardi Trophy.
It was on display last night, which was also Autograph Night at UAlbany.
Anyway, hope you enjoy the photos. They aren't the best, but I did what I could from up on the hill where I was.
As for camp, I got to watch Jeff Feagles put on an awesome display of directional punting during a punt coverage drill. Going sideline-to-sideline, the Giants veteran punter must have nailed about a dozen kicks in a row that pinned the return man at or near the sidelines. He's the best in the business at what he does.
Nice work from tight ends Kevin Boss and Darcy Johnson during the portion of practice I saw. Boss made a diving catch on a low throw from Eli Manning. A bit later, Johnson absolutely froze rookie safety Kenny Phillips with a stop-and-go move, then blew about 5 yards past him to haul in a long completion from Eli.
Wide receiver Brandon London also made a big play, blowing past cornerback Kevin Dockery for a long reception down the left sideline.
That's all I've got in terms of what I saw on the field. Hopefully, I will get back a couple more times before camp ends. With work, family -- and some golf to play -- who knows, though? But, I will definitely try.
- Giants' new lineman Shane Olivea admits addiction to painkillers.
- Here is Mike Garafolo's evening practice report. He saw a lot more than I did, and I'm sure he got quite a bit wetter.
- For good measure, and to play fair, here is Ralph Vacchiano's evening practice report. Probably means little in the end, but the name Brandon London keeps popping up.

Gents (and ladies):
How fired up does this make you??
ALBANY – Rookie safety Kenny Phillips, the first-round pick from Miami, made an impact in yesterday’s morning practice with some hits that probably were a bit too physical in nature.
Phillips clocked running back Reuben DroughnsReuben Droughns on one play, sending Droughns to the grass. Phillips, realizing his overzealous mistake, immediately reached down to help up Droughns. A few of the veteran players on offense made sure Phillips knew he needed to tone it down a bit.
A few minutes later, though, Phillips couldn’t help himself when he popped receiver Brandon LondonBrandon London in the chops after London made an over-the-shoulder catch on a lob from Anthony WrightAnthony Wright.

As long as
He saves his mauling for the season, we don’t need anyone in blue getting hurt
we haven’t had a safety who liked to level people coming over the middle since…........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Remember the hit
The best I ever saw in person was Shaun Williams laying out I think it was Jimmy Smith from Coughlins jaguars. I think it was 2000 when they locked up the NFC east with the game. The next year he broke his leg tangling up with Ed(who never shold’ve gone) McCaffrey. It wasn’t till after that ,I’M pretty sure that he APPEARED not to be able to catch anybody.
We're only gonna score 17 points?

Brandon London -
Does he have a place on special teams? Could give either Moss or Tyree a run (assuming everyone is healthy)
Otherwise could make the practice squad this year

London
Unless there are a lot of injuries I don’t see how he makes the team. Practice squad is possible, I would think.
