Snee gets his new deal
Well, that's one problem solved.
The Giants have reportedly reached a six-year contract extension with guard Chris Snee.
He is, of course, best known for being coach Tom Coughlin's son-in-law. Snee, though, is the Giants best lineman. He's only 26 and is a guy who could visit the Pro Bowl a few times before this new contract is over.
Getting the Snee deal done quickly was a good move by GM Jerry Reese. Unfortunately, settling on a new deal with Plaxico Burress and pacifying Jeremy Shockey won't be so easy.

Good deal
I think this is probably a good deal., although I haven’t seen the money yet. He was going to be in demand if the giants let this go past this season. That and the fact that he is Tom’s son-in-law creates and interesting dynamic. Could have ended up being next yrs. off season debacle. Glad it did not.

Agreed
It would have been an uncomfortable situation if it dragged out.
Next he’ll hopefully get the Pro Bowl recognition he deserves. Winning a ring and getting a nice contract might put him on more voters’ radars.

Great news
The entire offensive line (the unsung heroes of the Gmen last year) is signed through 2011. That’s excellent.

2011?
Wow I didn’t know that. There might not be another team in the league that can claim that

Oh, that Reese.
Does he know what he’s doing or what?

Credit where credit is due
I didn’t know it either until I saw it this morning:
But yeah, it’s great news. And yes, not many other teams can say that. Continuity on the OL is a necessity to success in the NFL

They probably knew
that Snee is already on the all-time roster, so they had to sign him up ;)
But seriously, I’m glad they locked him up, good teams are built from the lines out, something it looks like Reese knows well.

You are totally right
I am convinced that the trenches are the key. On the offensive side, it allows the skill players to showcase their talents. On the defensive side it prevents the other team’s skill players from showcasing their talents.
All the great teams have had great OL and DL lines.
Good point.

that was one of the first things Coughlin said when he took over, and Parcell’s philosophy too
