Everyone take a second today
to thank the New York Giants for preventing a Boston sweep of the three major sports championships.
Thank you, Justin Tuck (via media.2theadvocate.com)
If you are a Yankees/Knicks (ugh) fan like myself, thank the New York Giants today.
If you hate ESPN (the Boston Al-Jazeera network), thank the New York Giants today.
If you rolled your eyes at Paul Pierce's bullshit dramatic "injury" performance in Game 1, thank the New York Giants today.
If you wish someone would drill Manny Ramirez in the ribs while he stands at home plate admiring a home run, thank the New York Giants today.
If you have a fat friend named Bobby from Worcester that hasn't yet taken the price tags off his Kevin Garnett jersey, thank the New York Giants today.
If you believe in SpyGate and the fact Kevin McHale handed his franchise player to Danny Ainge, thank the New York Giants.
If you can imagine the dark, cold, and incredibly annoying world we would all be forced to live in had the city of Boston swept all three major sports championships, thank the New York Giants.

Thank you for the biggest up-set in sports History
As I was wlking out of the University of Phx stadium the night of the SB, the only thing that went thru my mind is that We ( NY Fans) just got even…...They may have won the World Series and now the NBA Championship, that no one will remember in 5 years, but EVERYONE will remember who handed Boston the biggest up-set in sports HISTORY…...Go Giants….........We shocked the World….............

I have to admit
I don’t harbor the hatred for Boston that most NY fans do. I’m a Met fan, so for years I always felt we had the upper hand on Boston. I did develop a healthy dislike for Pats fans leading up to the Super Bowl, but then we got the upper hand on them too
I say let the Boston fans have their fun, they’ve suffered long enough, and they’ll never be NY
Giants fan from the womb to the tomb

"I don't harbor...., etc."
Nor do I, although back in the day when they were frustrating the Knicks’ efforts to make it to the championship game, they used to bug me. Hey, after 18 years let the Celtics and their fans have fun. I have to tell you, they really impressed me. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a better defensive effort from a basketball team, better even than the beloved Knicks of Willis and Co., or Riley’s brawlers, or the Detroit Bad Boys.
It increased my anticipation for watching the ‘08 Giants with a year of Spags under its belt and weak spots shored up. If anything’s the hallmark of the Giants over the decades it’s defense. The first sign that we were emerging from the Wilderness Years was when Arnsbarger brought back the D.

Me neither. I’ve woken up every day for months knowing that last seasons most unlikley CHAMPION beat the team that had already printed up 19-0 books, hats clothing and basically had history pre -written. This team won the only Superbowl that people WILL remember the loser 10-20 years from now. I admit at least when I go fishing in New England with friends from all over up there I can point back to this year for a long , long time and wear my 19-0 hat proudly (and for the most part without fear of retaliation). That in itself makes life good…....................THANKS NEW YORK GIANTS
We're only gonna score 17 points?

Amen
Amen.
I would never watch ESPN again.. I wouldn’t be able to deal with all the bull** . 19-0! The perfect season! Tom Brady is great! And Gisele is so hot! They’re perfect…... blah blah….... and I would have to deal with Tom Brady retiring and going into broadcasting and always talking about his perfect season, ala Mercury Morris, and I would seriously have to either have him taken out or never watch ESPN again. And can you imagine today’s headlines had the Pats won… Boston Three-Party… Third Time’s the Charm… blah blah blah… some sickening picture of KG, Manny, and Tom Brady.
Special Thanks to the Giants D-Line, Eli, David Tyree, Plax, Steve Smith, Kevin Boss, and Brandon Jacobs for preventing what would surely be the beginning of the end of the world.

ESPN is no friend of NE fans either
ESPN was/is no friend of New England.
Football fans around the globe were so sick of the “perfect patriots”, but no one ever thinks that it wasn’t anyone associated with the Patriots, especially any of the players, calling themselves “perfect”. In fact, no one on ESPN could get them to talk about anything of much substance at all (no matter how much they were baited and prodded and encouraged to do so), which is why the anchors and analysts took matters into their own hands to make up stories, build up the team beyond anything human, and then delight in tearing the whole creation down.
ESPN ombudsman Le Anne Schreibner just posted an article where she addressed the legion of New England Patriots fans crying foul for its May 13th spygate “SportsCenter Special”, where she referred to the show as “a runaway train of one-sided inflammatory speculation.” The show was so bad that ESPN will no longer run live unscripted “Specials” beginning in August, and whenever there is breaking news, ESPN will make sure the anchor always has a reporter sitting at the desk as well as insider analysts.
With that being said, I would still have to agree with you all that three major titles in one town just possibly might have made us a bit hard to live with. : )
Keep the faith!

Boston....
Great town! Went to Northeastern for a while in 67, saw a lot of Sox games. Fenway may be the best park to watch a game. We used to take the MTA to Kenmore Square and get a giant sausage and onion grinder before the game. I was really a Yankee fan back then but I liked the Sox too as long as they didn’t threaten the Yanks too much.
The rivalry seemed more polite back then. Nowadays the Sox fans seem more militant. Or maybe I’m more sensitive to ilt now. Who knows?
As for the Pats, I pulled for them too, as long as they weren’t playing the G-Men. Grogan, Nance, they were hard nosed players with class. When Parcells got on board I was proud of the way he handled the team. The last couple of years though have changed me. I hope they lose ten games this year.

It doesn't get old...
Let the Celts fans have their fun….heck, let the Red Sox fans have their run too. As a die-hard Yanks/Knicks fan (just like you SBaker) I too loathe “Red Sox Nation”
But I will tell you what – the greatest thing about all of this is that the “19-0” chant will just never get old. I love nothing more than wearing my “18-1” t-shirt (where the 18-1 is quite clearly shaped like the NYG logo) because the G-Men just popped all of Red Sox Nation in the mouth. It was damn sweet…

I have a 18 and 1 shirt too....
Hey, wouldn’t it be great if there was a sea of 18 and 1 shirts worn by fans for our first home game this year? It couldn’t get any better than that! We would be watching that for years on the NFL channel.
