Giants Ranked #1 in Sporting News Power Poll

I said the other day I thought Peter King was pretty accurate saying the Giants are the 5th best team in the NFL, but who am I to argue with the Sporting News if they want to put the Super Bowl Champion New York Giants (Saying that just never ever gets old) number one

 Anyway, enjoy! We're number one!

SN Power Poll

One last thing: For my money, its much easier to paste a link in here than the old board

Ahh

The old, put ‘em on top until somebody knocks ‘em off theory. I don’t think the writer actually believes they are number one, but he just just ‘em there because they are THE DEFENDING SUPER BOWL CHAMPIONS!!!! Yeah, I do love writing that.

to make a correction

Peter King actually had the Giants number 6, I said I thought 5 was about right. I’m good with that. After all, going into the playoffs last year, most of the polls would have had the Giants somewhere around 9th or 10th best right? Like I told this Pats fan I had an argument with last night “Winning your last post season game is the only thing that matters”

Re-thinking the Super Bowl....

I read this article this morning on nytimes.com:

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/05/08/sports/football/08nfl.html?ref=sports

So the article walks through some of the Patriots accomplishments. And then it made me re-think what an incredible, amazing win this was. Now consider this, the G-Men beat arguably the best, and easily most accomplished regular-season Patriots team from the New England “dynasty” teams. I think it is truly an amazing accomplishment – and it is one that will just continue to get better and become more amazing over time.

As a football fan, however – that Times article is troubling. I remember that ‘02 game against the Steelers too. It is appearing that they really did steal signals for years! It’s unfortunate and it sucks the integrity out of the game. Either way, the G-Men beat them fair and square.

That win will never get old!

Cheaters or not....

Last years Super Bowl, regardless of whether or not Belichek and the Pats ever cheated, is still hands down, THE best Super Bowl ever! I still am enjoying every moment of it.

The game could have gone either way, but, it went the right way!

This poll has several flaws.

I don’t think I’d put the Colts #3 right now with the Harrison fiasco going on. I’d put the Chargers in that spot and they have them #6? The ‘Girls in front of Chargers and Jags? After that they did pretty well though.
