BBV takes a giant step forward

When Big Blue View began in February of 2007 I had no idea if it would succeed or fail, or how long I could sustain the pace of writing about the Giants every day.

The site has been, from my perspective, an unmitigated success. We have a solid, likeable, growing community. I want this site to one day be the best New York Giants fan site on the Internet. BBV isn't there yet, but I think its is on its way to eventually challenging Big Blue Interactive for that crown.

I have come to the realization, though, that to get there I am going to need some help. Some of you know that I also cover the New York Yankees for 'Bugs & Cranks .' Between the writing I do there, what I do here, working at a new and demanding full-time job, and having a family I can't keep up this pace.

So, on to my point. I have decided to take on a regular contributor, or co-writer, I'm not quite sure what to call him. Anyway, our very own 'jrs1940' has agreed to join the site and will be writing at least a couple of times per week.

I'm thrilled to have the help. I think it will go a long way toward helping BBV become an even more valuable Giants site for you. I'm sure 'jrs' will bring a perspective you will appreciate.

Since he began commenting here, 'jrs' has shown great passion and insight in regards to the Giants. He's been willing to do this for a while, and I just haven't been ready to ask for help.

Now I am, and I think that -- ultimately -- the site will be better for it.

Now that I have dumped all shorts of pressure on him, please give a shout and welcome 'jrs' aboard -- though I know I don't have to ask you to do that.

welcome dude

i’ve seen your postings on here, u know what ur talkin about, i like this site more than BBI def, BBI is too much link dumping, here i feel like i get more opinions and info from the average giants fan. I have a request, and I know we all hate Eli being compared to his brother all the time, but I’ve never seen anybody do a thorough comparison of Eli to Peyton based on where they’re at based on the years in their career- you know, eli in his first year vs. peyton in his first year, and where peyton was at in his fourth year as compared to eli in his fourth year, that kind of thing. welcome again Jrs.

Thanks Guys

I started coming to this site last season, and quite honestly, I instantly fell in love with it. The conversation is always good, all of our Giants fans are knowledgeable, and everyone is given the opportunity to voice an opinion without fear of being slammed. As I said in the early going, this board is like walking into a bar thats for Giants fans only. We’ve got a quite a few posters who can tell us some great stories about the Giants of the 50’s and 60’s, guys like myself who grew up in the 70’s and were there to see the Giants rise to the top in the 80’s and 1990, and younger fans who have bellied up to the bar in the 90’s, and are enjoying their first taste of Giants Super Bowl success. We all have one thing in common: a tremendous amount of passion for the New York Giants.

I’m going to take on a few of Ed’s duties, and we’ve come up with some new ideas I think you will enjoy.

While I appreciate your well wishes, its Ed who deserves the credit for creating this place for us, and doing such a great job with it. I’m just here to add to that enjoyment. I’m very excited to be a part of this, and I hope I make you all proud

Ed, I sincerely thank you for the opportunity to be a part of this wonderful website you built.

Welcome aboard jrs

I discovered this site about a year ago now, as I was looking for some information about the Giants mini-camps, and I bookmarked the site even though it was a little bare-bones, and started coming here frequently during the season and was shocked at how much more developed it was by that point, and things only got better as the season went along and the Giants continued their improbable march to the Super Bowl. It’s been a great place for a Giants fan in lonely Redskins territory to come and talk about the team, and I’m glad to see the site taking the next step forward. Now hopefully the Giants keep getting better just like BBV!

Welcome jrs

I originally stumbled upon this blog while looking for a rational forum without all the “You’re an idiot” comments so common to the fan site scene. Your comment about walking into an establishment is very descriptive of our atmosphere. We all have our own vision of what the team plan should be but we respect each other and everyone has an opportunity to post his opinions without being cussed out.

We seem to have a good mix of the old, middle aged, and young fans which helps us keep things in perspective.

I look forward to your contributions.

That is what I was hoping to create. The only thing I ever ask of anyone who comments here is that you bring something intelligent and valuable to the table. The screaming “you suck” kind of comments don’t add anything to the discussion. The folks who comment here always bring something to the discussion, and that make this a lot of fun.
