That OTHER New York team

So it looks like the Jets have been having a busy offseason: Alan Faneca shores up the left side of their O-line, and they just signed former 1st-rounder Damien Woody as their right tackle, potentially giving them a very strong O-line. They have also made a few pickups on defense. Plus, they have the #6 pick in the draft (with some mock drafts having them taking McFadden.) Depending on the QB situation, I expect the Jets to have a bounce-back year next year and be a playoff-caliber team. Which brings me to the point of this post: I would LOVE to see a Jets-Giants Super Bowl. Remember how exciting the Subway Series was in 2000? Well, I think a Jets-Giants Super Bowl could be just as exciting, and maybe even more. Everyone talks about an all-Manning bowl, but I would much rather face the Jets (don't think I'm being greedy though, I don't care if the Giants end up playing the Oswego School for the Blind as long as it's a Super Bowl.)

Maybe it's because almost everyone in my family are Jets fans, but I've always had a soft-spot for them: I cheer them on unless they're playing the Giants. I've always been curious how the rest of Giants Nation feels about the j-e-t-s (which I have to admit is a much better cheer than anything we have.)

a better question

is to ask jets fans how they feel about the giants. about 90% will tell you that they hate the giants. thats what we get though for being the better team in the same city. and to be honest, if the jets were better than us, i'd probably hate them to. i tolerate them and root for them because they haven't done anything since superbowl III.

my friends who are jets fans wouldn't even root for the giants in the superbowl. against their division rival... who were about to go 19-0.. headed by the biggest douche in pro sports, bill belichik!! i cant understand that at all, because i'm sure you'll agree with me that if the cowboys were about to go 19-0 i would root for anybody to beat them, i'd root for a tornado to come and tear my house down before watching the cowboys get that record. imagine 30 years down the line... T.O. on ESPN, talking about a perfect season ala mercury morris? that was about to happen to jets fans with tom brady (you know he's going into TV after the NFL) and STILL they wouldnt root for the giants.

and yeah, i agree, we need a good chant. j-e-t-s is annoying in my opinion though.

i thank God for not making me a jets fan.

i know jets fans that actually were pulling for new england as the lesser of two evils in the super bowl (and they HATE the pats).

i was raised to believe that anything that ended with "ets" was the ugly stepchild in New York (Jets, Mets, Nets) and i still feel that way today. that being said, the mets will probably win the NL while the yankees will have to fight to make the playoffs in the loaded AL - so don't jump on me mets fans.

as bad as the knicks are

they are one of the flagship franchises and have won two championships. the nets have never won anything and the only two times they've gone to the finals was when the Eastern Conference was the worst that it's ever been in NBA history.

I despise the Jets

Not enough bad things can happen to that team to suit me: Here are some reasons why:

Their fans. Among the worst in sports. Case in point: Gate D
Joe Effing Namath: In my opinion, one of the most overrated players in NFL history. If the Jets don't win SB 3, he is a footnote in history. His stats aren't great, more picks than TDs in hsi career (by alot), lead the league in picks 4 years, lead the league once in TD's and the game he "guaranteed" he didn't do much....to quote Derrick Coleman "Whoopdee Damn Doo". I know he went to the Pro Bowl 5 times, blah blah blah. He's still very overrated in my book, more "legacy" than substance, the whole "Broadway Joe" thing, with the fur coats, fu mancu and panty hose. I loved seeing him make a jackass out of himself on MNF, although I gotta admit, I would plant one on Suzy Kolber too.
They play in Giants Stadium......its like sharing a house with pigs
Those two fat firemen. Nothing against firemen, I admire what they do. But to have to see these two fatasses 15 times on TV during a Jet game, just kill me.
Every year, from February to August, all we hear about is what a great off season the Jets had, and Steve Serby in the Post writes his annual "Jets will be Super" article, only to watch them fall flat on their face come the regular season.

These are my long standing raasons to hate the Jets, but you can add Eric Mangini to the list. That fat little pud is completely devoid of personality, and stands up there and talks like he is Belichick. Listeing to him is like watching paint dry

Sorry, I hate the Jets. I hope they go 4-12 forever
