Wide Receivers

With Plax gone is there any chance Mario Manningham will see the field ? No David Tyree this year, The Giants are an injury away from being short handed at the position. Will that take Hixon off kick returns to protect him? Who will replace him if they do ? Bradshaw is certainly a step-back & also someone the Giants can ill afford to lose. Burris with his stupid move has hurt the Giants in more ways then just taking himself out of the picture.

Depth Chart

Hixon
Toomer
Smith
Moss
Manningham.

It looks like the 3 WR set will be Hixon, Toomer, Smith

I don’t think we run alot of 4-5 WR sets so shouldn’t be an issue.

4 wides

We do run some of that, but 5 would generally include Boss or Ward split out. The Giants depth definitely has taken a hit, but that happens to every team in the NFL. The Giants have better replacements than just about anyone else.

from what i have heard, manningham is a first round talent and is someone that will help the giants down the stretch. The only reason he has not been on the field more is because of the depth and his supposed low football IQ. Thats why he fell in the draft, maybe the burress situation will force him into games. Does anyone else think that Hixon may be a little injury prone. I love the guy but we cant fall back on burress anymore.

michigan Wide Receivers?

Manningham. was pretty good in college i forgot he was on the giants team , i bet he would do good given the chance- i am not a michigan fan but they have quit a few wrs in the nfl Manningham=giants , jason avant=eagles, braylon edwards= browns [poor guy ha ha ] steve breatson= cardinals , how long has Hixon been in the nfl ? doesnt look like hes having any problems filling in for burress. one more question how long has jacobs been on the giants team, he was there when tiki barber retired he basically took over his job right? i heard he was on the same college team at one time with ronnie brown and carnell williams but transferred some where else dont know how much truth to that there is just found it interesting

He was the third back behind those two.

He transferred to another school to get playing time. You wonder what the coach who deemed him a third stringer was thinking.

to be fair

Cadillac and Brown were awesome in college. And both had very promising rookie years before getting hurt. And sometimes guys just develop a little later. Joe Flacco fell into Delawares lap b/c Jeff Wandstett (former Miami coach, now at University of Pittsburgh) told him there was no way he was going to start over Tyler Palko who at the time was considered a pro prospect. He’s since gone undrafted and bounced back and forth from the Saints practice squad to their #3 QB. Meanwhile, Flacco led Delaware to the 1-AA Championship and should have won POY (Tim Hightower, the Cardinals rookie, actually won, but only b/c Flacco and his RB – who set a division record for TD’s, split the vote), was the 18th pick in the draft, and is having an outstanding rookie season.

Yeah, they were, but BJ wasgood enogh in college to make Accorsi drool.

You were right on target about Flacco. He’s having a great rookie year and looks like a future All-Pro. The Giants had a QB from Delaware once, who Tuna preferred for a while over Simms. As usual lately, I can’t recall his name.

Scott Bruner I believe it was

he was UD’s first legit NFL’er. The second, and most famous was Rich Gannon. I’m hoping Flacco has an even better career than Gannon, since I actually got to follow Flacco’s career at UD pretty closely.

Right, Bruner.

He looked pretty good for a while, or better than Simms at least.
