ONE OF THE BEST GAMES EVER @ GIANTS STADIUM?

That was just an old school,. smashmouth heavyweight battle in which the champs dug deep to prevail. Carolina was peaking coming in and they showed that they are a force to be reckoned with. I love our team because we never even think for a second that we are out of any game.

It seems like most of our dramatic victories have come on the road in recent memory. The only game I can think of where the stadium was electric like last night was 2001 NFC Champ 41-0 drubbing of the Vikes. Somebody help me out, last night's game has to be up there right ?

I'm no historian

I have zero recollection of past games besides mostly Conf. Championships and Superbowls, and I almost never remember the venue. But that game last night was really something else, great shot in the arm esp. for Eli. It was also remarkable, considering the accuscore situation that seemed to claim this was the most evenly matched game ever, to see it come down to a tie at the end of regulation. I thought it was lost in regulation before the holding call pushed them back… before the flag went down I was saying “that’s the game.” And I was really concerned when we punted in OT giving the great field position.
A lot of kudos are really due to the defense. After getting ripped on the first 3 drives, they made the necessary adjustments and really only gave up one big-play fluke the rest of the way… because Aaron Ross apparently forgot how to use his legs and fell 6 times in coverage and then STILL got in position for the INT he missed. Can we get some glue for the secondary? DelHomo could have thrown 19 interceptions last night.
The D stood up in the second half, especially in the end of the 4th quarter and in OT.
One of the best games I have seen, Much like the last 3 playoff games of last year…

You play to win the game!

Absolutely.

In fact, from the end of last season until the present moment, the Giants have gifted their fans with more great games than any comparable period in the team’s history. (I went to my first Giants game in ’39 and have followed them ever since. They remain the only sports team I remain fanatically addicted to.)

Since '39?

George,

I always enjoy your perspective. I only started going to the games since ’79. I remember grabbing the grill and a bunch of garbage bags to protect our legs in cold December games like yesterday (and my Mom always dropping the Blackberry Brandy they would bring to the games to keep warm). Anyway, there were some tough years to be a Giants fan in between then and now, but somehow they always did just enough to keep me being fanatically and thinking how the next game was going to be different. They would dominate for sure.

What year or years were the toughest to watch and to stay a fanatical fan?

Mets

you need to go back and read the historical series George did for us during the off-season. Search for ’Cronin’s Corner.’ You’ll get your answers.

thanks

I read some of it, but did not get through it all.

NP

George did some great work there. BTW, just don’t ask him about the ‘Wilderness Years.’

It wasn't a win

but the regular season finale last year was incredible. What happened over the next month made it even more incredible, but even without that it was just an all-around great game. It was kinda like the fight in Rocky – the heavyweight champ kept thinking they’d knocked the underdog out, but the Giants just kept coming back for more. At the end, even though the Pats won, you knew they didn’t want a rematch. And the Super Bowl was like Rocky II.
