That egg you see.....

Was laid by Brett Favre

that egg

might cost me my fantasy matchup – I have Cotchery and Keller.

How is it even possible to only score 3 points against the Seahawks?

by cjmulrain on Dec 21, 2008 6:50 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Its simple

They are the Jets

They will always be the Jets, and there aren’t enough Brett Favres in the world to change that.

just like the Mets

or anything else that ends with “ets”. always the step-child.

(i apologize in advance for pissing anyone off…)

ouch

whatever, I sleep well at night know our $160 million dollar pitcher is much less likely to eat himself out of the majors in 5 years than yours.

touche

but obesity aside, CC can pitch past the 7th inning, something Johan can’t refuses to do (thought with Putz and K-Rod, that may not matter anymore).

this great Giants season has made the long wait for baseball a lot easier.

by SBakerTheTouchdownMaker on Dec 21, 2008 7:07 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I would argue

That the past two seasons aside, the Mets have had more success than the Jets

Giants fan from the womb to the tomb

by Jim Schmiedeberg on Dec 21, 2008 7:08 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

agreed

i only lumped them together because a majority of Jets fans are Mets fans.

Yeah but not all of us are.

So I would like to encourage you to take all your Mets/Jets comparisons and stick them in a sack, mister!

That was my super-nice version of what I really would like to say.

by Mr. Met on Dec 21, 2008 7:17 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

haha

I actually think that distinction is blurring a little bit, since the Jets and Giants no longer play in Shea/Yankee Stadiums. I had a lot of friends growing up who were either Mets/Giants or Yankees/Jets, it was weird.

My theory is that you shouldn’t be allowed to root for both the Mets and the Jets: too much heartbreak. You should have to pick the winning franchise in at least one of the sports…

by cjmulrain on Dec 21, 2008 7:19 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

The Mets are gonna do it this year.

They could easily have done it in 06, should easily have done it in 07, and would easily have done it in 08. So there’s nothing left but to actually do it in 09.

I’m not one of those NY fans that like to revel in the Yankees or Jets losing, but I always feel worse for the Jets when they go down every year. This year will be worse than most because of Pennington coming back and Favre doing his Diva dance.

Watch me paste this pathetic palooka with a powerful paralyzing perfect pachyderms percussion pitch.

by Mr. Met on Dec 21, 2008 7:23 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I agree

re the Mets. But then, I’ve felt that way going into the past 3 seasons, so we’ll see. We’ve had the best team on paper for 3 seasons now, it’s time for them to put up.

And almost everyone in my family are Jets fans, so I generally root for them unless they’re playing the Giants, or in the very-rare scenario where them losing would help the Giants.

by cjmulrain on Dec 21, 2008 7:27 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

The Eagles and Cowboys

are proving how worthless “momentum” is. It’s a made-up word in this sport, IMO. And it’s exactly why I’m confident that the Giants will be playing a game in Tampa Bay in a few weeks, regardless of the last 2 games.

by cjmulrain on Dec 21, 2008 6:59 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I think momentum

Is more prevalent in sports like hockey and baseball, where you play every day or every other day.

Westbrook just limped off, what a surprise

Giants fan from the womb to the tomb

by Jim Schmiedeberg on Dec 21, 2008 7:04 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

definitely in hockey

basketball too I think. With baseball, I agree that there is momentum in terms of players, but it’s still day-to-day as far as which pitchers are on the mound. Your team can be hitting the crap out of the ball, but if you send Barry Zito out to the mound, you’re still probably gonna lose…

by cjmulrain on Dec 21, 2008 7:09 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

You mean like, when CC Sabathia eats a cheeseburger

and then he eats a turducken, and then he eats a box of cupcakes, he still has the momentum to go ahead and scarf down a live hog?

I don’t know how, but the Redskins have the golden touch when it comes to safeties. Landry is awesome, Taylor was awesome, he dies way too young, so what do they do: draft Chris Horton in the 7th round, and he’s awesome.

aside from the TB loss

could the last 24 hours have gone any better?

Cowboys implode, lose.
Atlanta wins at Minny.
Eagles lose to a lifeless Redskins team.
and the cherry on top, the Jets score 3 points against the putrid Seahawks.

Good news

Eagles are still technically alive, so they have a reason to play Dallas tough next week. And Tampa plays Oakland, I believe, so they should win. If Tampa and Philly both win, Tampa makes the playoffs, and Eagles, Cowboys, and Redskins all get to watch us defend our title from home.

If I have it figured right

Giants only have 4 WR’s active tonight, and one of them is “Wrong Way” Manningham. I’d expect to see alot of Bradshaw lined up as a wideout, if weather permits the Giants to try and spread the field.

Sorry, he’s a smart guy and very important. But, he is not a stuff the run, dominating middle linebacker. That crap can’t happen week after week w/out him taking a hit for it.

if you put Pierce’s brain into some other guys body (I’m blanking on physically talented but disappointing MLB’s right now, but I know there’s a bunch out there), you’d have Ray Lewis 2.0. Unfortunately, he’s just not a very talented physical player (in relation to other NFL players. He’s got more talent in his pinky than I have in my whole body)

He is very overrated as a pure talent. His recognition skills get him a ton of tackles not his physical ability. That being said, he is going to be a great backer coach one day.

If they win tonight (and even if not) there’s no reason he should play more than 1st half next week.

Not a father yet( on or about feb 24 2009) but there is no way you can have a baby or a toddler at this game in this enviroment. It drives me nuts when I see that

he knew he wasn’t going to get any pressure with the front 4 since coefield and tuck are banged up. that’s the only explanation i can think of.

there's a 15-yard swing right there

should’ve been 1st and 10 at the CAR 45 with the blatant pass interference and instead a sack puts it at 3rd and long at the NYG 40.

with as horrible as this team is at home in big games

maybe it’s better to not have homefield.

if the defense can stop the bleeding, they’ll have a chance. i think the offense and the blocking up front have been good so far, but the D isn’t giving them a chance.

by SBakerTheTouchdownMaker on Dec 21, 2008 9:33 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

the way they play at Giants Stadium late in the season in the Eli era, I’d almost be ok with a loss tonight.

by cjmulrain on Dec 21, 2008 9:33 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

The only problem

is that we can’t go into the playoffs playing this badly. The team needs some kind of confidence and momentum or it’ll be over quick.

It is sad to watch

The worst thing about it is watching how they played just 3 or 4 weeks ago and I cant believe we are looking at the same team.

Carolina is definitely a good team, but they have just embarrassed us so far at home. Delhomme is not that good, but good enough to destroy us at home like this.

and I swear ig Hedgecock ever gets in on 3rd and 1 again, I am going to puke, wrap it up for Gilbride and Fedex to him. (I was Tivoing and just caught up).
