Giants to allegedly sign Joe Horn

I honestly don't know what to say that... so I guess I will speculate that one of our WR is injured significantly. The alternative is that the front office is in a full blown panic attack.
Does anyone think it is a good idea to sign a guy who got cut in the preseason and expect him to be able to learn an offense TWO weeks before the play-offs? Not to mention he is the guy who pulled that cell phone on us a few years ago, and I thought that was pretty classless myself.

Horn
If this happens it’s not because the Giants expect great things. Guys get hurt, there are two weeks left in the season and there aren’t exactly many quality players available off the street. You take what you can find.
Horn used to be pretty darn good
and he’s actually a really good guy who got a bad rep b/c of the cell phone thing. I remember seeing an “Outside the Lines” type special about him and all the stuff he’s done for his community, which was dirt poor (I’m talking Depression-level poor, not inner city poor. His entire family of like 8 or 9 lived in a Jim Crowe-era one room house before he made the NFL).
Horn
If he still had much left he wouldn’t still be on the street with 2 weeks left in the season.

he's got something left
he’s just asking for WAYYY too much money.. maybe the G-Men can afford it? This could be the Genius Jerry Reese knowing where to allocate his funds (but i might just be the dumb optimist.)
It's not easy being Giants fan in Philly.. but it sure is satisfying

on that article said something I mentioned in a thread here the other day: how much do we wish we had pulled the trigger on that trade for Tony Gonzalez now? He’s having another excellent season for an awful Chiefs team, and would give Eli a #1 receiving threat in Plax’s absence. I like Boss a lot, and he’s been good this year, but he’s no Tony G. Hindsight is 20/20…
Exactly
It looked like overkill at the time. But, it would look good now.

I was
pushing big for Tony G. Even though Bossman hasn’t been awful, Tony would have made the TE pos a concern for D.C.
Here's a thought
Why the sudden bulk purchase of WRs? Yes, Burress and Tyree are gone for the year. Some say Moss will go on IR next. Hixon may be getting a little banged up with all the playing time he’s getting and Toomer may just be running out of gas. Manningham hasn’t impressed anybody yet. But why not go to the practice squad first?
Here’s my hypothesis. Yes the receiving corps is depleted, but that’s not the real problem. I think Jacobs is hurt much worse than anyone is saying.
The Cowboy game showed that the Giants need either their runing game or their passing game to carry the day. They can’t survive if both are hurting. With Ward and Bradshaw, they don’t need any more RBs even with Droughns on IR. But they may not feel that they have a receiver who can step up to fill Burress’ cletes. Hixon’s drops have cost them two games. He’s young; he’ll improve, but not in the next couple of weeks. Smith is having a great year, but the tall, deep threat isn’t his role. Biddle and Rucker apparently aren’t ready to come up from the practice squad. So the Giants are desperate for a receiver who can attract some attention to take the pressure off the running game.
Im
tired of height being the determining factor if you can be a deep threat or not. STEVE SMITH coming into a Medowlands near you, is 5 foot 9 or 10 inches tall. At least 2 to 3 inches shorter than most DB’s, however, the man is still a BEAST. Height can compensate for errant throws, but if you need height to disguise a shitty deep arm everytime down the field than your QB is a joke. It’s up to the WR, QB, and coordinator to create plays downfield. Eli needs to show more accuracy down field, Hixon or whoever need to start getting seperation (Eli can help w/ rolling out or pump faking), and Killdrive needs to start coming up w a different gameplan, b/c it seems like DB’s are seeing our receivers routs better than our receivers.
This just in Horn given 1 way ticket home.
You beat me to it
but yeah it appears Horn will not sign or will not be offered a contract.
In Jerry we trust.
I say Reese’s track record entitles him to the benefit of the doubt. He gets the big bucks to make decisions like this.
