Giants sign WR Derek Hagan
According to Mike Garafolo at NJ.com, the Giants have signed WR Derek Hagan.
Sounds like he will see immediate playing time, but here is the part that worries me:
The problem during his time with Miami was his hands, as he dropped several passes.
Hagan was a 3rd round pick of the Dolphins out of ASU. I couldn't find a real good pic from his Dolphins days, so I used this ASU one. After 4 years in AZ and 3 years in Miami, I hope he isn't too thin blooded, it gets a little chilly in NJ this time of year. Although, he should like the weather in Tampa in February!
The whole story can be found here.
[EDITOR'S NOTE: Reuben Droughns was placed on IR to make room for Hagan.]

I wouldn't
get all crazy about this. He’s a guy w/NFL experience, and the Giants have a roster opening, plus Sinorice Moss might be hurt. Derek Hagan is hardly going to make or break the Giants season.
Unless of course....
He makes “The Catch” in SB 43, in which case we’ll be searching for the link for this story.

I think it might be an attitude check
With Droughns on IR, the Giants need some special teams bodies as well as WRs. If he’s a prima donna, he won’t last two weeks.
Tyree is on IR
he is done for the year.

He's done as a Giant
Okay, just so I understand it... in your wildest fantasy, you are in hell. And you are co-running a bed and breakfast with the devil.
I don't know
he still might turn up in training camp next year.

Oh yeah....
But wasn’t that a bit bogus? Is there no way to reverse that? He really didn’t have a season ending injury did he?

IR is permanent
Once you are on there you are done for the season, period. That’s how the team can replace your roster spot. As for Tyree, he had the knee and then when he tried to come back he had a hamstring and could not get on the practice field. When it came time that the Giants absolutely had to decide, he wasn’t healthy enough to play. They either had to IR him or release him.

About Hagan
One Dolphins WR Coach summed it up perfectly when he said…
Before former Dolphins receivers coach Terry Robiskie was fired, he offered this unusual spin on receiver Derek Hagan: ‘The biggest thing is for him to get married. Single guys don’t have the focus of married guys. He’s focusing on the rims of his car, on `Am I Cingular or T-Mobile?’ and other things that are so irrelevant. He’s got too many focuses.’’ OK then.
He has the potential to be great but he just doesn’t put forth the effort. His hands are horrible and not exactly what you expect in a receiver in him.
I honestly had no clue of who this guy is.
Thank you guys for filling me in. In Reese we trust gentlemen.
Yikes...
So we go from being receiver rich to this? Signing a guy with “hands of stone?”

I still say Manningham should get a shot
More than these backfield passes and hand off reverses they have been giving him. Of course, I have not seen any practices and have no idea if he has any idea of what they plays are, but no one else is lighting the world on fire right now.
Don't Panic
Let’s not look too deep into this move. Maybe he can make an impact in the playoffs and maybe you won’t see him on the field for anything but kickoffs. If I learned anything from this team the last couple years its that Reese knows what he is doing.
