I know most of you are tired of discussing what
goes on inside Plax's head, but I just came across some quotes from/about Joe Don Looney, (a #1 Giants pick traded in his first training camp who lasted eight years in the NFL because a series of head coaches thought they could get him to conform and play to his universally acknowledged awesome potential.) When I read them, I thought of Plax and thought I thought they might interest you.
From:
"The only value in football is fun. When you play for money, it loses its value."
"If the end zone is where happiness is, I'd be living there."
"It's not what you think of me that counts. It's what I think of you."
About.
"He has curtains in his mind." (From his father or an uncle.)
You can't speak to the ocean to a frog inside a whale. He spent his life inside a whale. (Same source.)
"He never had both shoelaces tied." (Sam Huff.)

Won’t be what i think of when i think of Plax.. I’ll always think of his super bowl catch and him getting emotional after the game. Wherever Plaxico goes, i’ll root for him.
It's not easy being Giants fan in Philly.. but it sure is satisfying

I agree with this
when someone says Plaxico Burress, my first image will be him cradling that ball in for the winning score in XLII. Of course, probably the second image will be of him fumbling around in his sweatpants for his gun. If you divorce yourself from the situation, it’s a comical image.
I still like Plax though, and I’ll root for him no matter what (unless he goes to Philly or Dallas)
Some BBVer said that Plax marches to a different drummer.
True, but Looney marched to a far different and distant drummer. Plax will perhaps never attain his full potential, but Looney never attained anything close to a smidgeon of his. Looney’s outlook was in many ways admirable but was the kind that could never be even occasionally be incorporated into the team concept the football requires. The same cannot be said of Plax. In fact, if he manages to skate past his current problem with the law, he might return to the game chastened, determined to consistently excell and more willing to conform to management expectations (possibly even with the Giants.)
