PLEASE! Don't Dump Plax
As everyone probably knows what happened with Plax Last night. For those who don't, he accidentally Shot himself in the leg at a Night club Last night. Reports have been flying around speculating the end of Plax's time in the Big Blue. That is why I am here now, to beg and plea for Reese to spare him.
Through Reese's tenure as the Giants GM he has showed how he operates this team very clearly. He doesn't care about name value, he believes in having a solid draft and keeping young talent circulating, and he has no problem cutting ties with anyone. he's done nothing to hide that. One of his first moves as the GM was cutting LaVar Arrington, Carlos Emmons, and Luke Pettigout. He didn't pursue anyone on the market that year, Joey Porter was available, and he ended up adressing his problems from the inside as well as the draft. That turned out pretty well, Super Bowl Champs. He did the same thing this year when he traded Shockey, who was a huge distraction, and let Kawika walk. So far so good, same method: drafting and replenish from the inside.
Now that we are well aware of the inner workings of Reese's mind it should be a no brainer that he will let Plax go. I mean, the team is doing fine now without him and they did they same thing to Shockey last year. This is a TOTALLY different scenario. Last year the Giants started off 6-2 and started to falter toward the second half. In the Minnesota game it seemed we were in for another second half meltdown and first round exit, by the Washington Game are fates were supposed to be sealed. Then something happened in the meadowlands that night, Shockey snapped his leg and was gone for the season. Next week, the Giants played the Bills and clinched a playoff spot, after that they played down to the wire against the Perfect Pats before they suited up for a playoff run. The Rest is history. Eli played great throughout the playoffs en rout to the SB XLII MVP.
Getting Rid of Shockey was a no brainer, Eli actually got BETTER without him in the hudle being a dick. Also they had Boss ready to step up as he did in the playoffs.
Burress is different. He has been missing for streches of the season, the Giants were great, and he has been there too, still great. The only thing you can say is that Plax's first game back from suspension was Eli's worst game of the season, Browns on Monday night. You can also say that Hixon or Smith, like Boss, is ready to step up into a bigger role, and the Giants would be ready for life without Plax. This would be a big mistake.
The Giants, with or without Plax have won because of Running Game and D. Plaxico gives opposing D's something to fear in the Passing Game. Without that fear there's nothing stopping them from stacking the box on Brandon Jacobs, Derrick Ward or Bradshaw. The games that Plax was out were against: Seattle (Terrible D), Pittsburgh (Running Game was shut down), and basiclly the whole Cardinals game (OK D). I dont really think that Eli, Hixon, Toomer, and Steve Smith are enough to stop Ds from stacking the box on our backs, None of them can Kill you, Plax can kill you.
In the end I dont think that Plax should be dumped until the Giants can convince themselves that the team is better off without him. So far the team has been able to ignore it so I think that you must give him a second chance.

yes, plax must stay
not only is he an incredible talent that helps the team, i still believe he really cares. he is just a dummy. it happens. i know lots of good people who are alos big dummies. lets not hate on plax. he will feel bad enough now that every sports fan in america knows he accidentally shot himelf in the leg. that is probably the most embarrassing thing i can think of. but bottom line is pro football players get targeted for violent robberies and a lot of them think they need to carry weapons. so plax screwed up, big deal, he is a g-man and has earned his stripes. he is staying and thats final.

From my point of view
Reese is the key player. He believes Burress is important to the Giants. That’s why he gave him a big contract last year. But this year has been a disaster for Burress because of injuries and a bad attitude. Injuries are part of the game but a bad attitude isn’t. Reese has options in his existing receiving corps, Tyree on IR, his talent on the practice squad, all those draft picks from the Shockey trade, and his own ability to find talent on the waiver wire. Someone is going to sit down with Plax, maybe Reese or Coughlin, and get a reading on his attitude. Then Plax will take a few weeks to recover. If he comes back strong at the end of the year, he’ll stay. If he gets put on IR, or benched, or given a minor role, He’ll be traded before next season.

Everyone
says Plax opens up the running game. I for one don’t believe it. But all 1st half indications say its true. We have only rushed for 12+ yrds on the ground. But Eli is still shredding it through the air.

I disagree
You said, “The games that Plax was out were against: Seattle (Terrible D), Pittsburgh (Running Game was shut down), and basiclly the whole Cardinals game (OK D). Let me start by saying you were wrong about smith and hixon not being good enough. All of the games Plax missed were Eli’s best games of the year( including Washington yesterday which you did not include). Losing Burress is not realy that much worse then losing Shockey because as you see Eli was better without Plax as well. Plax is probably even more of a problem then Shockey was. Shockey never shut up but at least he wasn’t breaking the law ontop of it as Plaxico is doing. First he misses practice then he shoots himself. He is a complete idiot and has played his last game as a New York Giant. I am sorry Plax but you’ve had too many chances. Mr. Harris Smith can go play in Oakland next year along with Ron Mexico.
Also Domenik Hixon is a complete stud and is more valuble then Plax this year. Hixon has heart someting Plax will never have. I f you give Hixon the talent of Plax he would be the best wideout in the nfl.
Well thats just my opinion i respect yours.

completely untrue
Hixon is nothing more than a #2
Shockey was worse than Plax he would scream in the locker room alienate his teammates, start arguments and ruin the chemistry of the team
once shockey left the team was able to mesh together and rally toward a championship because the team had chemistry together
in sports chemistry is defined as a good compatability between players that makes the team better than the sum of the talent
that was exactly what the giants had last year
Shooting himself in the foot was an accident
He broke the law so it happens the league and the leagal system will punish him
I bet ur a yankees fan well you know what Joba got busted for DUI and speeding in Nebraska so why dont they cut him
