Video Game Preview: Giants at Cards
Good Morning Everyone,
Since I am out here in Arizona for the game this week, I thought it would be fun to get together with some guys from Revenge Of The Birds, and put together a video talking about the game.
So last night, with the help of Intellectual Derriere and Murfdog from Big Blue View, and Noah and Matt from Revenge Of The Birds, we all sat down with a few beers, and talked about the game. Noah and Matt are great guys, and they did an awesome job.
Thanks to the guys at Revenge Of The Birds for helping me coordinate this, and thanks to Intellectual D and Murf for sitting in on this on short notice.

Seahawks
Yeah, we have had our own issues with the folks at Field Gulls. A very unfriendly, ‘high and mighty’ group over there. Best to just leave them alone.

Analysis
The Giants toughest games this year, Cincinnati (OT) and Cleveland, came against fairly mediocre teams. Besides mediocrity, the two teams also share talented receiving corps in common. In fact, this has been the biggest obstacle for our defense. Stopping the run is nothing for a physical team like ours but stopping a talented receiving corps is another matter. The key to this game will be our ability to bring pressure. On the Offensive side of the ball, I believe that Manning will get a chance to do some damage to the Cards secondary as they load up the box to try and stop Earth, Wind and Fire. This and the Cardinals’ inability to compete with the physicality of the Giants’ offensive line will mean a big, 30-plus, scoring day for the Offense. Given the improvement of Aaron Ross and the play of the other youngsters, Johnson and Thomas, in addition to Madison, and the ability of the D line to bring pressure (although where were they last week), the Giants should be able to contain the Cardinals passing attack and interrupt Warner’s timing. I say this one looks close at the half, 17-14 New York. But then the Cardinals will simply be warn down and Bradshaw will have a field day. Final score, 31-24, with a late Cardinals score to make a game dominated by the Giants look close.

Just out of curiosity, what are your guys feelings on Eli Manning?
Last night talking with the guys from your website, they seemed pretty split. Personally, I have not cared for him ever since the draft stunt he pulled, but I wanted to hear Giants fans thoughts on him?

We love Eli
He may never put up the kind of numbers his brother has, or that Kurt Warner is putting up this season, but we always feel good that when the Giants need a drive or need a big throw Eli can make it. He will still make some ugly ones, but the most important thing we have learned about Eli is that he is a winner.

Interesting
Surprised to hear that people other than San Diego and fans here gave it much thought. I can see why a move like that would turn people off but, he has been nothing but humble and reserved here. Pretty much to the point of boredom and I’d surmise great frustration to the local media who are unable to provoke a headline from him( other than Tiki Blabber). That was his one questionable moment and it was in front of the national audience. Bottom line he’s a proven winner.

I can tell you
for certain that other fans were definitely turned off by that. Some of my other non-Giants friends still harbor ill feelings towards Eli because of that draft day. Like you said Eli has been very humble, so there is no reason for those people not to move on, but once sports fans get a negative vibe about an opposing player they can’t seem to get past it.

We should try to do this more often.
Good work guys. I don’t know about the rest of you but except for Sunday I’m pulling for KW as comeback player of the year.

over at Stampede Blue (the Colts blog)
they’re having a Warner vs. Peyton debate for MVP. I would side with Warner in that case, personally. The OP over there listed Eli as a potential candidate, which I don’t support at all. Eli’s been good this year, but he’s been far from our MVP (which, IMO, has been our whole O-line), let alone league MVP.

Peyton vs. Warner?
This year? Warner, no contest. Career? Peyton, no contest.

I agree
although Bill Simmons, certainly no Peyton-lover, makes a decent argument for Peyton:
“Put it this way: If Tom Brady played every down after two summer knee surgeries, limped around for all of September, kept his injury-depleted team alive with some clutch plays, rounded into shape and improbably positioned his team as a sleeper contender, I’d be covered in body oil and sparkle right now. Peyton Manning has to be the MVP through 11 weeks. As Mike "I Wish I Could Go Back In Time And Talk Dog Out of Leaving” Francesa would say, that is a yooge, YOOGE job by Peyton Manning. Gotta hand it to him."
I’d still go with Warner, but Peyton is having a much more impressive season than it looks like on first glance. By the way, I found this quote by a commentator over at Stampede Blue, and I had to laugh:
“It amazes me that so much of the media is drooling over Kurt "Best Receiving Corps in the League versus the Worst Division in the League, of course I’m playing Well" Warner and largely ignoring Peyton’s tough as nails season. Just shows what a bandwagon jumping, ignorant fools most of the media are”
How hypocritical is it for a Colts fan to complain about a QB getting attention b/c he has great wide receivers?
OT: this is my 1,000th SBN post, the bulk of which have come here on BBV! And yes, I am a nerd for keeping track of that.

I'm pulling for KW and KC (as long as the Giants win when--if--they play vs. their teams.)
KW has a shot at the HOF, but I think Kerry has the edge so far as comeback player of the year, because he’s coming from further back. They’ve both had it tough and they’re both tough as rr spikes.
