Nice

You got me in the mood to make some wings now too.

One of these days

I’ll post my recipe, and maybe get some suggestions on how to improve them, if that’s possible, LOL

If you're thinking

of posting wing recipes, I think it’s a hell of a good idea. People could comment their own recipes, etc.

Ugh

just saw Dan Dierdorf is calling this game, the only announcer more annoying is Theismann

Paul McGuire is the bane of my existence, Theezman actually started to suck less when they seperated them. The old ESPN sunday night team remains the worst collection of announcers ever

question for Ravens fans

i totally forgot to ask this during the week…

rank these teams in order of hatred Colts, Browns, Steelers (or anyone else i might’ve missed).

in case you were wondering, mine is 1) Philly, 2) Washington, 3) Dallas (everyone hates Dallas, so it’s not as cool), 4) Jets, 5) 49ers.

by SBakerTheTouchdownMaker on Nov 16, 2008 11:43 AM EST reply actions

For me its

1. Dallas (nothing boils hotter than my hatred for that team and their fans)
2. The Jets. Hate the team, hate their fans, and I absolutely despise Joe Namath.
3. Philly (their lack of Super Bowls keeps them from contending for the top spot)
4. The Cardinals (weird I know, but I lived their for 7 years and had to put up with their fans every year when the Cards were still in the East. I am looking forward to renewing this hatred next Sunday)
5. Vikings. Their fans, the bad losses to them, and they play indoors.

Was never able to truly hate the Skins.

by Jim Schmiedeberg on Nov 16, 2008 11:51 AM EST up reply actions

My order

1) Philly,
2) Dallas,
3) Washington (they are moving up this season),
4) Tampa Bay,
5) I don’t know if I have a 5. I used to really hate Baltimore, they would have been #3, but now that they have Flacco I don’t hate them anymore. And I used to really hate the Colts, they would have been ahead of TB, but ever since the Super Bowl I’ve become a bigger Peyton fan, and can’t hate them as much anymore. Maybe the Pats, who I didn’t hate at all prior to the SB.

I like the Jets, since everyone else in my family are Jets fans. And Joe Montana was my favorite non-Giant when I was a kid, so I’ve never had a problem with the Niners.

by cjmulrain on Nov 16, 2008 11:55 AM EST up reply actions

The Steelers and the Colts are pretty much interchangable. Older fans, who were around when the Colts were Baltimore’s team, are hostile towards our old franchise. It’s still outrageous to me that Johnny U, among others, asked for his name to be removed from anything that had ties with Indianapolis, yet the NFL would not oblige. Can you imagine if Jim Brown was put in Canton as a Raven? I can’t say I was proud of our fans, though, when Indy came into town in the 2006 playoffs.

However, the Ravens have a pretty good thing going with the Steelers right now; they have been very competitive since the Ravens came into existence, and it usually comes down to the Ravens and the Steelers at seasons end. However, the Pittsburgh animosity stems purely from that fact that we’re divisonal foes, and their rivals are clearly the Browns. Baltimore doesn’t really have a rival, but I guess we do have quite a bit of hatred towards a few franchises.

1.) Steelers
2.) Colts
——Gaping hole——
3.) Redskins

My best game plan is to sit on the bench and call out specific instructions like 'C'mon Boog,' 'Get ahold of one, Frank,' or 'Let's go, Brooks.' -Earl Weaver

by Baltimo on Nov 16, 2008 12:26 PM EST up reply actions

That Skins rivalry is a baltimore D.C. thing though. But my list goes something like that, I dont have that history of hating the Colts, but since they always seem to beat us… they’ve slowly started creeping up my list

i forgot about the Skins

what is that like? is it kind of like the Jets/Giants thing around these parts? do the traditional Skins fans hate the Ravens?

for some reason this intrigues me.

by SBakerTheTouchdownMaker on Nov 16, 2008 12:59 PM EST up reply actions

ravens are new

so i don’t think skins fans really care too much. Nothing down here compares to dallas-skins. Just learned something new this week too, one of the reasons the rivalry is so big is a lot of the black fans started rooting for Dallas back in the day because the Redskins were one of the last segregated teams, so whole families here grow up Cowboys fans

by queler on Nov 16, 2008 1:02 PM EST up reply actions

Well we’d hate D.C. even if it wasn’t because of the Skins. Its a history I hate yet to understand.

The hatred between the Redskins and Ravens

Is the exact opposite between the Nationals and the Orioles. Oriole fans don’t view the Nationals as a real team or a rival. This is especially heated over Angelos’ work to prevent DC from getting a team. Same thing is true with the Ravens in that Jack Kent Cook did everything he could to prevent Baltimore from getting a team. Redskin fans still view us as little insignificant upstarts and we hate their old owner for allowing Carolina and Jacksonville getting an expansion team over us and forcing us to get involved with the whole Modell mess.

"When they get drafted by the Baltimore Ravens, we expect them to play like that. Are we surprised? No."

revised score prediction: Giants 23, Ravens 17 F/OT. Tynes misses from 27, 29, 34, and 37 yards in the first three quarters but hits from 51 to force OT. he then runs into the tunnel in celebration, forcing the Giants to convert three fourth downs in Ravens territory before scoring the game-winning touchdown – Eli to Boss.

The conundrum for tonight....

Do we prefer a Dallas win to hopefully open the gap between the Giants and Skins?

Or do we prefer a Skins win because its always nice to see Dallas lose?

Personally, I think I would rather just see the Giants win, and then the Skins beat Dallas. If Dallas wins, we’re going to hear all week how “Dallas is back”

wow

that’s a nice roster. I have Portis, Fast Willie Parker, Kevin Smith, Dominic Rhodes, and Jamal Charles. My team was in first place until 3 weeks ago, when Portis got shut down by the Steelers, then was on bye last week, and is out this week. He’s been my fantasy MVP, and him not playing is killing me. Hopefully Romo makes up for it tonight! (and yes, I do feel dirty rooting for Romo)

by cjmulrain on Nov 16, 2008 2:39 PM EST up reply actions

i have Barber

Thomas Jones, Ronnie Brown. taken with my 1st, 4th and 5th round picks. i’ve stuck with them just about all year.

by SBakerTheTouchdownMaker on Nov 16, 2008 2:40 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah

I always have a tough time picking who to start.

My WR are

Edwards
Welker
Evans
Eddie Royal
Mason

Picking which 3 to start is always hard.

QB is P. Manning and TE is Clark

by Woogie526 on Nov 16, 2008 2:41 PM EST up reply actions

I would have benched him too

I benched Jerricho Cotchery, b/c the Jets only scored 13 last time they played the Pats, and of course he catches a bunch of passes and a TD

by cjmulrain on Nov 16, 2008 2:33 PM EST up reply actions

Damn

Points at the end of the half would have put this game away for good.

by Ed Valentine on Nov 16, 2008 2:32 PM EST reply actions

Eagles down

10-3 to Cincy? I hope that plays out!

by potroast on Nov 16, 2008 2:34 PM EST reply actions

But...but

NFC East??? I thought every single team was basically Super Bowl caliber?

Actually, apparently every AFC North team but the ravens can at least hold their own against the Giants, sigh.

by Matchz Malone on Nov 16, 2008 2:38 PM EST up reply actions

it's been a weird AFC North vs. NFC East year

Giants lose to Browns, beat Bengals in OT, but then beat Pittsburgh on the road, and score touchdowns on their first three drives vs. Baltimore.
Steelers lose to the Giants and Eagles, but beat the Redskins on the road.

by SBakerTheTouchdownMaker on Nov 16, 2008 2:39 PM EST up reply actions

Cincy

picked off 2 McNabb throws in the last 3 minutes, and drove down and scored on one of them. Bengals defense is actually looking like an NFL caliber D today

by cjmulrain on Nov 16, 2008 2:35 PM EST up reply actions

well, it was a nice week of hype. some teams believe it…not this week. EXPOSED. congrats on our ass whipping.

by raven on Nov 16, 2008 2:41 PM EST reply actions

its not over yet

we have a chance to make it a respectable loss and not an ass whopping.

have you no faith?

the Colts overcame a 17-point deficit in the span of 4:04 against the Texans. but then again, that was the Texans.

by SBakerTheTouchdownMaker on Nov 16, 2008 2:43 PM EST up reply actions

Plus

the Giants will get ultra conservative now

where the hell

is the pressue on Flacco!!!!!!!

Thanksgiving dinners take eighteen hours to prepare. They are consumed in twelve minutes. Half-times take twelve minutes. This is not coincidence.

by LI-cowgirl on Nov 16, 2008 2:55 PM EST reply actions

Flacco

is a player. Consider me impressed.

by potroast on Nov 16, 2008 2:57 PM EST reply actions

agreed

it seems the ravens got themselves a franchise QB

by Bajaserge on Nov 16, 2008 2:58 PM EST up reply actions

yeah

i like how half the time he goes out there and throws blocks. he doesnt play with reservations.

by LosGiantes08 on Nov 16, 2008 2:59 PM EST up reply actions

This is what bugs me

If our defense hadn’t given up on a couple drives, this would’ve been more competitive. As a Ravens fan, I knew that Flacco would produce and our defense would clamp down, but it’s agitating looking back. All credit goes to New York on those campaigns, though.

Flacco

is Baltimore’s leading rusher: 5 car, 25 yards.
McGahee/Rice combined: 10 car, 19 yards.

by SBakerTheTouchdownMaker on Nov 16, 2008 2:58 PM EST reply actions

Where is the defense

They’ve looked sloppy since the half.

by Woogie526 on Nov 16, 2008 3:01 PM EST reply actions

the blitz

man when that blitz gets stoned, we do NOT look good

by queler on Nov 16, 2008 3:01 PM EST reply actions

Eli's pick before half

was really costly. i swear that he throws the worst-timed interceptions of any quarterback. they always end up costing the Giants points.

by SBakerTheTouchdownMaker on Nov 16, 2008 3:01 PM EST reply actions

Yeah

That pick would have salted this one away. Now, it’s a battle.

by Ed Valentine on Nov 16, 2008 3:04 PM EST up reply actions

It'll be a game

If the Ravens get a stop on this drive. If Eli can orchestrate a drive here, nothing will have changed.

I think that's an interception

Rolle had the ball, losing it only after hitting the ground; however, he was down by contact as he rolled off that guys back, right?

I need to see that again, but

he didn’t appear at first glance to really have complete control.

ok

i’ve regained my mojo

by potroast on Nov 16, 2008 3:12 PM EST up reply actions

If a guy

Has his ass and knee hit the ground before the ball, doesn’t that constitute down by contact?

Not when

you don’t maintain control of the ball.

by Woogie526 on Nov 16, 2008 3:13 PM EST up reply actions

not if he never cleanly catches the ball

it was squirting through his arm the whole time

by potroast on Nov 16, 2008 3:14 PM EST up reply actions

I guess that was the disputable part

I thought that he had possession, he just let the ball hit the turf.

by Baltimo on Nov 16, 2008 3:15 PM EST up reply actions

When you catch it and hit the ground immediately you have to keep control all the way through while you roll on the ground.

by Phildo on Nov 16, 2008 3:19 PM EST up reply actions

Still

that was another bad throw by Eli. If he puts that on target its a first down.

by Ed Valentine on Nov 16, 2008 3:13 PM EST reply actions

doesn't really matter

they still get the ball and have the momentum.

by SBakerTheTouchdownMaker on Nov 16, 2008 3:14 PM EST reply actions

yeah

and of course another penalty

by potroast on Nov 16, 2008 3:14 PM EST up reply actions

side note

Jacobs has two carries this half.

i mean, why stick with what works right? let’s let Eli throw to the Ravens’ defenders instead.

by SBakerTheTouchdownMaker on Nov 16, 2008 3:14 PM EST reply actions

Yep

geez, we are putting the Ravens back in the damn game.

by Ed Valentine on Nov 16, 2008 3:14 PM EST reply actions

by Phildo on Nov 16, 2008 3:30 PM EST reply actions

Bradshaw!!

But he got run down from behind … slowing down in his old age.

by Ed Valentine on Nov 16, 2008 3:32 PM EST reply actions

Jacobs

I think we will see more of him down the stretch of this game.

by Ed Valentine on Nov 16, 2008 3:32 PM EST reply actions

193 yards rushing

i think it’s pretty clear that this rush offense is unstoppable. i think the 2000 Ravens would have trouble keeping them under 200.

by SBakerTheTouchdownMaker on Nov 16, 2008 3:32 PM EST reply actions

speaking of which

No mention of the Super Bowl, I think, how many Giants are still on the team? Just Toomer I think, right?

throw on first down

why not? just had a 77-yard run and 193 on the ground today. we’re at the 2-yard line and Eli has already thrown one pick and two more should’ve-been-picks. hey, let’s throw the ball!

very impressed by the offense against a great defense. talk to you guys later.

by potroast on Nov 16, 2008 4:03 PM EST reply actions

The Giants are impressive

Thanks to the way that the NFL carves up coverage into little regions, its gets easy to only watch and follow your team and get blinders on to the quality of your opponents. It was a complete domination and you all should be proud. The ravens have lost this year, but never so dominated in every aspect of the game. Your lines on both sides of the ball are something to watch in action. No shame in losing to a team of this quality.

"When they get drafted by the Baltimore Ravens, we expect them to play like that. Are we surprised? No."

I must say, as a Giants' fan that was a positively awesome game!

another thing I really enjoyed was the discussions on this blog throughout the week. I didn’t add much because everyone else had it covered, but I found the Baltimore fans to be extremely classy and insightful. I choose to reman true to the “week at a time” philosophy that our boys have carried throughout the last two seasons to great success and I am really looking forward to Arizona next week. Today was a good day. GO BIG BLUE!!!!!!
