New York Giants notes, 11.14.08

Giants_notebook_468_medium

He might be a rookie, but the Giants know Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco has been playing well.

"I think in the first four games this season he was a rookie still. He is maybe still a rookie, but he is not making mistakes he was making earlier," Giants linebacker Antonio Pierce said. "Right now he is comfortable. I don't think they are forcing him to win the game. He is not creating turnovers for the other team, putting them in great position to win games, throwing the deep ball very well. So he is a good rookie right now.

"Obviously, we have to do some things to change that up for him a little bit and get him a little confused."

Webster

If he’s not ready to go at this point, I’d prefer they sit him for a week. Groin injuries are tricky and the last thing we need is for this to hang around too long.

I’m done expecting a big game from Plax. Defenses key on him, which opens things up for everyone else, so I can live with that. It would be nice for him to get a couple of big plays though.

Webster

That leaves us with Terrell Thomas, who I actually have a lot of confidence in, and the geriatric twins — Madison and McQuarters. Please God, don’t let Aaron Ross get hurt. Please, please, please.

We're only gonna score 17 points?

I guess it's a moot point

Webster returned to practice today and MG says he looked good.

Injuries

It scares me to say it, but the giants are a couple of injuries away from having an average defensive backfield. However, it’s been overlooked that the Ravens are missing a starting corner and safety too. So I think these negate each other, at least until these guys start throwing and one side gives it up.
It would be hilarious if these two teams waged an air war and shattered the o/u of 42.

Offense wins games ...

and defense wins championships. Well, this is one game and while both sides are looking forward to a great matchup, I’m wondering what the Giants’ plan of attack will be. Obviously they are not going to abandon the run out of respect for the Ravens’ reputation. I think they’ll be able to put up 100+ on the ground. What I’m really wondering is if the Ravens would double Plax, given his low production? He could be key if the Giants are going to put up and razzle-dazzle. I know we don’t need him to be dynamic through the air, but this would be a great time for him to put up a 100+, TD or 2 game.
I don’t do predictions, but this comes close: With each teams’ running game finishing about even, this’ll be decided by the QBs: Sacks, TD/INT.

Geesh

You Baltimore guys are pretty much talking to yourselves now. Sorry, but we are pretty much not listening anymore.

Honestly

It’s one thing when you come onto another teams site and have an open discussion about the game, but every week guys like “raven” go onto other blogs and make presumptuous statements while bashing the opposing franchise. I don’t post on Baltimore Beatdown, but I know that it doesn’t get a ton of traffic, and it seems like they’re more interested in going to other SBNation blogs and exclusively discussing their own team.

My best game plan is to sit on the bench and call out specific instructions like 'C'mon Boog,' 'Get ahold of one, Frank,' or 'Let's go, Brooks.' -Earl Weaver

i like to try to get myself as pumped for the game as Ray Ray

but i post on Bal beatdown too.

and i dont always talk stuff, it just kind of makes me mad when a team with a winning record is treated like a brand new expansion team by their opponents
