THE PERFECT GAME

It's scary to think the Giants have yet to play a 'complete' game this season. If our offense plays like it did against Seattle and Dallas on the same Sunday our defense plays like it did against Washington and Pittsburgh --LOOK OUT !

I have always been a cynical Giants fan (always praying for the best but fully expecting the worst) BUT who the hell in the NFC is going to beat us ??? The only team that still scares me is Dallas, but I think if they lose at Washington this week they will implode.

Overall I think Kevin Gilbride is doing a phenomenal job calling the plays this year. However, there was one situation in the Philly game where we were up 17-7 in the 2nd quarter and moving the ball into their territory ready to bury them. Jacobs was averaging 8 yards/carry, Ward's legs were fresh and our O-line had their D-line on roller skates. Gilbride decides to keep the defense "off balance" and calls a pass play on 1st down, Eli gets sacked at or around the 50 and now its 2nd and 19. That gets the crowd back in the game after we had silenced them. After 2 conservative play calls we punted away the rock, and they came down to score to make it 17-14. The bottom line is that we have 3 capable halfbacks running behind the best blocking fullback in the NFL....If they are having trouble stopping the run early in the game ITS OVER !!! SHOVE IT DOWN THEIR F'IN THROATS !!

Agreed

He pulled that stunt against the Browns as well. Our 1st possession in the 2nd half, we were down I think by a score or 3 pts., we run the ball pretty much the whole way down the field and he puts it in Eli’s hands in the Green Zone. Eli proceeds to throw a pix six which took the game right from our grasps. But at the same time, you like to know your QB can punch it in if you run it down there. Eli has to get better at that. Given the amount of possessions we get down there, he should have about 5 more TD’s. Which would be ridiculous. We have 13 FGs from 20-29 yrds out, 5 more than the closest team. If we punch 4 of those in we’re damn close to a perfect game. Really I believe Eli needs to start finding a better rhythm, there is no reason he shouldn’t be connecting on 63/64% of his passes if we run this good.

Re:Agreed

I think the reason we have been stopped in the green zone so many times is predictability in the play calling. Inside the 5 its either Jacobs over tackle, HB delay to Ward, or fade to Plax. It was nice to see the play action to Boss in the Philly game, he has stepped it up big time and has become Eli’s second favorite target behind well dressed Amani Toomer. Defenses are keying on Steve Smith ever since he became our leading receiver, he is getting checked strong at the line of scrimmage. Its also strange that since Plax has actually started practicing he seems out of sync with Eli.

Looked it up

on 43 Red Zone poss we have hit pay dirt 22 time. 51% clip. That can improve.
