Interesting

Adam Duehon of SI wrote a little article about the match-up this weekend. All in all it talks about how deficient our boys and Eli are as a team. He pats us on the behind for the effort but thinks we will soundly be taken to school. He fails to mention several things. He hails Pitts secondary as the best in the league. Statistically speaking, yeah, they are the best. But who is a shutdown corner in that secondary? And he doesn't mention how Pitts pass-rush attack is probably the biggest reason teams aren't airing the ball out. Remind you they have played average to lousy teams like us. And lost to an Eagles team that is 3-3 compared to the Browns who are 2-4. But both teams are very talented and had high hopes coming into the season.

i think its foolish

to write off the Giants and pencil in a W for the Steelers. In fact, I would go so far to say that these two teams are so similiar, that what stands out the most are the Olines. Both teams use the running game heavily, both teams have QBs coming into their own and taking ownership of their respective teams. Both QBs came out the same year. Both have a great possession receiver and a great deep threat. Both teams have hard hitting defenses and get great QB pressure. Both have hard-nosed coaches who preach team first attitudes. Both have elite Olines…. oh wait. And there’s you difference. You guys have a fantastic oline to keep the pressure off Eli, while Ben spends the majority of his team picking himself up off the turf and pulling dirt out of his ear hole. I give the edge to the boys in blue. I think we can definitely win, and I’m pickin em in my pick ‘em league, but that’s just a little bit of homerism :)

I hate it when media guys guarantee my team to win, case in point – I shudder when Corso picks Penn State or Arkansas.

Sunday

Ark, this should be a terrific game. Both fan bases have teams to be proud of. No shame in a loss Sunday on either side.

Steelers Secondary

The whole defense has been operating at an amazing level. To give all the credit to the secondary is ignoring the monster pass rushing year we’re having. The boys up front are making it hard to get long passes off.

The big change defensively, from my amateur opinion, when Tomlin came in was the fact that we now keep everything in front and tackle well. That means we don’t really have the shut down corner because we have our corners off almost the entire time. We try to confuse QBs by having random people drop into zones where they wouldnt’ be expected (the zone dog concept).

I agree with Ark that writing off our offensive line woes this week is foolish. The Giants probably scare me as much as any other team left on the schedule because they could lay a pasting on Big Ben almost every play. our coaching staff has to win this game, and I have yet to develop any trust in our OC.

I don’t see your O scoring much, not more than 17, but if our coaches and o-line don’t get it together for this that might be enough.
