Pola... Polama...Polamalulalulalala....
Troy Polamalu is one of the best safety's in the league. If anyone has seen him play, he is a tremendous talent with tremendous heart. Just the other day he called out the NFL for playing what he felt was "Flag Football". He is constantly on the move on defense, picks up sacks, INT's and can stop a running back. He is the Steelers' Antonio Peirce. Only better.
He causes disruption for the QB and is always moving around behind the line. Actually its weird how when I think of it, Eli tends to digress when the D's move around alot, trying to hide where the bltiz is coming from.
Well according to si.com Troy will try and play this weekend despite his 7th concussion (2nd NFL). Personally I don't want to see him get an 8th, however he is game when he steps back onto the field. Chances are when we run the ball, Big Jacobs will find himself face to face with Troy, I hope he levels him. I hope he knocks Troy back to the 8th grade lol. I hope when he's done with Troy, Troy is eating through his butt and farting through his mouth (Little Giants).
If somehow Troy can't play this weekend, which I find doubtful, we stand a much better chance at winning and succeeding on the ground. This weekend is going to be a great game. Hope we show the Steeler's some of that BADASS-NESS we exhibited through our playoff run.

If the NFL
wants to maintain the slightest bit of credibility regarding their position on preventing and treating concussion, they will step in and not let him play. Having a tough guy attitude doesn’t count when the "little yellow birds " are circling your head.

Not for nothing
SE7ENs. But you act like this is the same Giants team as last year. The personnel may be the same but the stark difference is this team KNOWS it can win with what they have. All good fans worry about the better teams. Your blind love for everything Steeler’s, if you are a Steeler’s fan, is what I use to be like. Remember just 2 or 3 weeks ago, you guys were scrambling around trying to figure out a way to protect Big Ben. It’s going to be a tough game, no doubt. I give the Steeler’s the edge ONLY because they are playing at HOME.

He is partly right
While over zealus fans are never fun to be around he does have a point. It is very hard to run on the Steelers. And no this most certainly isnt the Giants of years past and they do look damn good. Personally i see this game as coming down to who can make less mistakes.

I agree
with his assessment on it being a tough task to run against the Steeler’s but he comes off pompous. If your going to dog your team one week only to love em the next, show some humility. Don’t go to other teams blogs talking about how impervious your team is to the run. And if you do, there are other ways to say it. I’m done harping on his comment. I welcome constructive arguments. Its how Pinstripe Alley runs it.

Thanks Steelguy
I read quite a bit over at the Steelers site and all of it was pretty down to earth and accurate. We seem to get all the trollers here at BBV and for the most part are used to it at this point. This should shape up to be a tough, violent game for all, glad I’m not going to be one of the guys on the field for this one! My recliner’s sounding real comfy about now

As a Steelers fan
Allow me to offer my apologies for the comments, especially the racist ones, by a person I don’t like at all … we agree only on what uniform to root for. People like that are part of the reason my wife, daughter, and I moved 3000 miles away from Pittsburgh. But ya can’t turn your back on your team.
And note, he’s probably not even in Pittsburgh, but rather a dead, dried-up former factory town 30 miles out of the city limits.
I have never once expected the Steelers to go undefeated. Losses are a big part of the season. And so I have no shit-talk overhyped jibber-jabber for you. I do believe that at this point in the season this is one of the biggest and most defining games. One of these two teams will win, and I feel it comes down to this: Giants win if they can consistently beat the Steelers O-line. The Steelers win if they can stop the Giants run/screen game. There are certainly many more variables that will be involved, but I think those are two good measurements for an estimate of victory.
It’s a simple assessment and has nothing to do with where you live, what culture you were born into, or even for whom you cheer. I’m looking forward to it more than any other game at this point into the season, and I hope you all have a fun gameday (though admittedly, I hope my gameday involves more cheering than yours … that’s just good-natured fandom).
Peace all. We’ll all be friends again after the game. Unless we meet up in the Super Bowl…

As for the game it should be a lot of fun. Can’t see how the schedule makers missed the boat on this one (no pun intended lol). It starts at 4:15, why not make it 8 so that everyone can watch the best game this w/e.

understand why it can’t be done. Considering stations compete for viewers, wouldn’t carrying a good NFL game over an ‘Ill tune in on commercials’ WS be savvy? Or is there some dumb contract?

and looking at some of your past comments, you seem to be an up and down fan. Your up when your team is up and your down when they lose. Just 2 WEEKS AGO, you were dogging your team for struggling in winning in an overtime victory over the Ravens. Complaining about your “anemic offense” and how your team is “not a playoff team” and how your “embarrassed”.
Now after pulling out a tough one against the Jags and blowing the doors off the Palmer-less Bengals(only in the 2nd half) you are back on the backs and riding them harder than ever. How we won’t run against you guys. Please dude get a clue if your gunna troll, add something constructive to the conversation.

Steelers fan, here
Polamalu’s biggest impact will probably be in the passing game. He’s known as a headhunter, but the coverage dropoff between him and the two backups we have is HUGE. Our #1b CB (McFadden) is out for a month, and the guy who’s replacing him (Townsend) has been fighting an injury, and we have no idea what the #4 guy (Gay) brings to the table. Ike Talyor matches up fairly well with Buress, but Toomer, Boss, or Smith could have good games against the #2-4 CB’s. If Polamalu sits out, our secondary will most likely have problems.
Btw, I was thinking this was still the same old Giants team until I looked at your rushing stats. Holy crap. Is Michael Vick secretly padding those YPC stats?

Its really
the O-line. Seriously if 3 backs can carry the ball 5+ YPC, it’s not b/c they are all potential starters (although I feel they are) it’s because of the perfection to which our line carries out Gilbrides schemes. If you see us break a big run, pay attention to the movement of the line and the timing; chances are all will be on point.

Biggest risk for the Steelers is obviously the O-Line,….every week we think they’re maybe turning a corner,..then we play a good pass rush and get shredded. Giants worry me in that respect.
Biggest risk for the Giants is the Steelers Run defense. Its so smothering that it can be discouraging. If we hold Jacobs to 2-3 ypc consistently,…maybe the G-men will abandon the run. Not worried about the other backs,…Steelers defense is very fast and can close gaps really quickly on Ward and Bradshaw. Brandon Jacobs wearing us down is the only concern. Casey Hampton better play this game,…we need him!!
If we can get to Eli,…then I think we have a great chance as well. Don’t think Eli is as poised as Ben when faced with pressure.

Polamolou
Is a star. He’s good in every facet of the game. His only problem is that he has absolutely no sense of self-preservation. He plays full speed and intense.
The other interesting player for you guys to look for is second year LB with a set of initials that will seem somewhat familiar to Giants fans. Lawerence Timmons.
You already probably already know about Lamar Woodley and James Harrison (or Silverback as he is affectionately known among the fan base) – who are collecting sacks at an absurd pace (16 as of last week), but according to Aaron Smith our pro-bowl DE, and the working man soul of our D, Timmons has the potential to be one of the best players in the NFL in two years (http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/08279/917571-66.stm). Mind you Smith is not a man who hands out praise very often.
Timmons is very young, he just turned 22 and is the youngest player on the defense, despite being drafted last year. Although he was drafted in the first round he barely saw the field last year. He has been used only in Nickel and Dime packages this year, so there is a decent chance that you won’t see a ton of him come Sunday. But last week was a bit of coming out party for the kid. He had 10 tackles, 2 sacks and looked great in pass coverage.
Steelers fans can’t wait to see this kid cut loose, and if you guys have to pass a lot, I am guessing that he will feature heavily in our blitz packages.

Definitely neat. Being for Pittsburgh I always tend to “Pshaw” 4-3 defenses because of our own 3-4 setup. Our defense can be great fun to watch, especially when they smell blood. Overloaded, complicated blitzes, moving around, bringing corners, safeties. That combined with some huge guys up front that often take on two guys. How could this get any better?
Then you see the kind of pressure the giants get with their front guys and would love for your base package to be so dominant. Our new coach comes from a tampa-2 but fortunately so far he seems to be willing to let the DC handle the defense. It also works to our advantage that it is so difficult personnel-wise to switch between the two.
Speaking of, do you know of any teams decided to switch to a 4-3 after last years superbowl?

I'm sure none
It’s not a 4-3 over the 3-4 per se that created that pressure. It’s the 3 DE’s on the line that was the huge problem as well as Bellichek’s inexcusable (IMO) decision to double Tuck and leave Osi and the (also IMO) the best 4-3 end of all-time single blocked.

Polamalu
If its Jacobs coming right at him in the hole i really doubt Polamalu will try to take him head on. (Like poor Laron Landry) That was funny to me. Instead Troy will do what he usually does when trying to tackle a bigger back….completely launch his whole body at Jacobs legs. I just hope one of Jacobs Sasquach knees does`t hit Troy in the dome.
