Coughlin to Tynes: "This'll learn ya!"
From Mike Garafolo at NJ.com:
John Carney will kick his sixth game for the Giants today against San Francisco, according to someone with knowledge of the situation.
The person, who requested anonymity because he isn't authorized to speak for the team, said it's likely the reason is that Lawrence Tynes spoke over coach Tom Coughlin's head earlier this week when he said he would kick in today's game. Tynes is healthy after suffering a knee injury during the preseason.
The moral of the story? "Shut up and kick, I'll call you when I need you."

Ways Tynes can spend Sunday
1. Apple picking in upstate New York.
2. Writing “I will not speak out of turn” on a blackboard 10,000 times.
3. Writing a letter to Tom Coughlin explaining why he wants to kick.
4. Hoping like hell John Carney misses a couple of kicks today so he doesn’t find himself released.
5. Hiring a hit man to “Jeff Gilloolly” Carney’s kicking leg.
I'm not a fan of this decision
If Tynes is going to be the kicker then he should be kicking today. Giants stadium winds require your best. Plus the players understand Coughlin runs a tight ship why go out of your way to piss on them and alienate them. That shit only works so long.
Tynes
Dug his own grave with this one. I think you are off base here.
