Giants vs. 49ers, Open Thread

NEW YORK GIANTS (4-1) GAME #6 SAN FRANCISCO 49ers (2-4)

VS.      49ers_icon_medium

Date: October 19, 2008 Location: East Rutherford, N.J.
Time: 1 p.m. EST
Stadium: Giants Stadium
TV: FOX
Radio: WFAN (660 AM)
Final Score: Giants 29, 49ers 17

Coming off their first loss of the season our New York Giants host San Francisco today. Let's hope they are angry, and let's hope they take out their frustrations on the 49ers.

Some pressure on San Franciso quarterback J.T. O'Sullivan would be nice, as would turnover-free football from Eli Manning.

This is your Open Thread. As always, keep your browser open to the comments to follow along 'live-blog' style.

Here's a video preview from NFL.com to whet your appetite.

Go Giants!

Today is in the bag.....or the fryer

Every Sunday this football season, I’ve made my homeade often imitated never duplicated chicken wings.

Except last Sunday. Since the Giants weren’t playing, I didn’t make them.

Then they lost Monday night.

Coincidence? Maybe, but I am not taking any chances, the first batch of wings went in the fryer at 10 AM.

Pass the blue cheese and go Giants!

Inactives

From Grand Wizard Garafolo, of course.

K Lawrence Tynes
CB/PR R.W. McQuarters
RB Danny Ware
LB Antonio Pierce (quad)
LB Gerris Wilkinson (knee)
OL Adam Koets
WR Sinorice Moss
DE Jerome McDougle

Tynes will never speak out of turn again. LOL!! As for Moss, I feel bad for the guy. Two TDs in a game and can’t even get into uniform since. Oh well, at least he has a career highlight to tell the grandkids about!

by Ed Valentine on Oct 19, 2008 12:22 PM EDT reply actions

im pissed about moss but pierce should be active just in case but at least goff is active and i cant wait to see kehl rip it up hes strting right

Pierce

The guy would be active if he could run. But, he can’t. He hasn’t practiced all week. Lots of Blackburn fans at BBV, so they get a chance to see their man today.

blackburn is just plain simply bad
he looks like an alien out there

I think yahoo lets you stream NFL audio from outside of america

although it might just be audio. Though I also think newyorkgiants.com has the nfl gameday audio (with Bob Papa!!) as well.

Guys, I should be here for the first half. But, it’s another soccer Sunday for me. So, you will have to carry on w/out me in the second half. I’m sure you will be fine.

Love it

overloading Tuck, Kiwi and a blitzer on the same side in passing situations. Love that!!

by Ed Valentine on Oct 19, 2008 1:06 PM EDT reply actions

Wow!

I can’t believe the 49ers didn’t challenge the Plax play. Lucky for us, I think.

by Ed Valentine on Oct 19, 2008 1:11 PM EDT reply actions

Defense looks better at least they are showing stunts and fakes.

by Woogie526 on Oct 19, 2008 1:17 PM EDT reply actions

Jacobs

Looked good on that run.

by Woogie526 on Oct 19, 2008 1:21 PM EDT reply actions

game update

‘Boys can’t stop the Rams “O” – they just scored another TD, up 14-7 now on a Stephen Jackson run.

by Cody K on Oct 19, 2008 1:33 PM EDT reply actions

'Boys

have a problem with their secondary now. Very vulnerable, I think.

by Ed Valentine on Oct 19, 2008 1:34 PM EDT reply actions

WOW

following an int deep in ’boys territory, jackson just rushed for another TD – Rams up 21-7

GO RAMS

by shenkthetank92 on Oct 19, 2008 1:52 PM EDT reply actions

Geez

Short drops, quick passes, then one long one. Just like what happened against the Browns.

by Ed Valentine on Oct 19, 2008 1:52 PM EDT reply actions

Yeah

So much for Martz not being able to adjust to quicker then 5-7 step drops…

by Woogie526 on Oct 19, 2008 1:53 PM EDT up reply actions

2-3 of those short passes

went right by the arm of a leaping giants defender. Can’t we get one damn tipped ball?

by Ed Valentine on Oct 19, 2008 1:54 PM EDT up reply actions

Easy, Shenk

We are winning. That was a great throw by O’Sullivan. Give the QB a little credit.

by Ed Valentine on Oct 19, 2008 1:53 PM EDT reply actions

this week to MORGAN come on

by shenkthetank92 on Oct 19, 2008 1:54 PM EDT reply actions

Plax

Doesn’t look the same since his suspension. No connection with Manning on routes.

by Woogie526 on Oct 19, 2008 1:59 PM EDT reply actions

Someone see if hell is freezing over

Aikman was sticking up for Burress on that call

by JoshNY on Oct 19, 2008 2:06 PM EDT reply actions

That was crazy!

I can’t believe Aikman said it was a bad call! He hates the Giants.

by Cody K on Oct 19, 2008 2:06 PM EDT up reply actions

that call was ri-freakin'-diculous

Ugh; this is insane. Can’t believe they made that call. Doesn’t make any sense.

Plax has to pull it together.

by Cody K on Oct 19, 2008 2:06 PM EDT reply actions

the gmen better pull it together thy r looking like the 2nd half of tiki’s last season when thy went 8-8

by Ed Valentine on Oct 19, 2008 2:11 PM EDT reply actions

Everyone is looking for that with that formation.

by DoctorK16 on Oct 19, 2008 2:22 PM EDT up reply actions

INT to the 10 yard line

And we get a field goal.

Pathetic, again.

Okay, just so I understand it... in your wildest fantasy, you are in hell. And you are co-running a bed and breakfast with the devil.

by shenkthetank92 on Oct 19, 2008 3:28 PM EDT reply actions

I hope

You enjoyed talking to yourself all game.

by Woogie526 on Oct 19, 2008 4:10 PM EDT up reply actions

that's one for the win column!

now the schedule gets tough. Hopefully the Browns carry that momentum from that game I heard was played (I’ve blocked it from my memory) into a win against Washington. A 1.5 game cushion going into the rest of the season would go a long way to making me feel more secure atop a division where anything can and will happen through 16 games. I wasn’t thrilled with the offense today, but if we can get it back to where it was against St. Louis I will be a happy man. P.S. Anyone else think that the Williams trade makes the Dallas locker room a ticking time bomb? After what happened today, I can’t wait to hear Owens’ post game comments. You know there wouldn’t be an economic crisis right now if the Cowboys had just thrown to T.O. More…
