Use this as your Sunday Open Thread to discuss the football, the baseball playoffs, the opening of hockey season, whatever you like.

Enjoy!

Ok I'll start

Hockey season, yeaaaaahhhh, Rangers off to a 4-0 start, nice. Brandon Dubinsky is a star in the making. Like the Voros kid too. The Power Play looks so much better without everyone deferring to #68.

As far as the baseball playoffs go, are the Red Sox and Rays still in the 5th inning?

Awwww Favre fumbled

And the Bengals scored a TD, that’s a shame.

finally

I am finally going to see a Giants game complete again (the opener) all games have been 11 pacific time and I always work early sundays, and with all the trash talk the browns are putting in makes it even better

Lets Go Rays

As a Yanks fan I can’t stand watching the Sawx do their best impersonation of my beloved dynasty. Watching Timlin come out to keep it tied made me happy. There is a reason he has been delegated to back of the bullpen.

The Jets seem like they still need time to be a team. Against an winless Bengals sans Palmer they find themselves struggling to move the ball effectively. Far too many penalties especially in the green zone (2). They have the formula but haven’t gotten it straight yet. Against a better opponent this will haunt them.

Gonzo as out TE makes me salivate. No offense to Boss but he provides no offense. Plus having him learn under Shockey and Gonzo for a couple more years can only make him better. Personally I would like to see Boss flourish. His hands are big and strong, he runs decent routes and noone has noticed him not blocking well so he must be doing the job. But Gonzo v. our tough teams can only make us better.

Yeah, I gotta admit,

I’ve been thinking about the possibility of TG in blue quite a bit.

Honestly, is there a defense in the league that would be able to defend them?

Marshall Faulk said on NFL Network this morning if the Giants get Gonzalez, hand them the Lombardi. I like hearing that.

TG

It is nice to hear that, altough let’s no become too arrogant, hopefully the team will be focus whether we get TG or not, I dont mind bring him that guy to the GMEN. (for many year he saved my fantasy teams) and I think he will contribute knowing he is got a chance to win something, not only this year but next year. he will be a team guy first

good news for the Jints.

this is why we have to be sure to not buy into the hype. anything can happen in the NFL.

by kendynamo on Oct 13, 2008 1:33 AM EDT reply actions

So let me get this straight....

All of you over here are discussing the greatness of the Giants THIS season, and the offensive juggernaut that you have while having won 3 straight games against teams 2-14. I’m not counting the Washington game since they have been a decidedly different team since that loss. But seriously, are you all that delusional? In reality, you have no EXCUSE to lose any of these games, you’re expected to beat up the “fat kids” of the NFL. That you almost lost to a now 0-6 bengals team should scare you to death, and the fact that it doesn’t just goes to add proof to your insanity.

Do you really, absolutely, unequivocally believe that you’re going to just roll the Eagles and the Cowboys? For heavens sake, you don’t even face a team with a winning record until week 8! Then after that you have the hardest second half of a season if I ever saw one. I think you’re coming out strong, but I think you’re finishing 9-7 this season. Eli only looks good against the scrubs.

Go Eagles.

by thwalls on Oct 13, 2008 8:22 AM EDT reply actions

Scrubs?

The 13-3 Cowboys were scrubs?

The 14-3 Packers were scrubs?

The 18-0 Patriots were scrubs?

Jeez, man, I’d love to know what league you watch if those teams were scrubs.

by cjmulrain on Oct 13, 2008 8:56 AM EDT up reply actions

Those were terrible teams

Oh, and the league decided today that the Giants are only 3-0, the Redskin game no longer counts, because they are playing better now, as evidenced in their convincing win at home over the worst team in football…..oh wait.

I love how the Giants are supposed to apologize for their opponents

Giants fan from the womb to the tomb

by Jim Schmiedeberg on Oct 13, 2008 9:18 AM EDT up reply actions

Sooo...

the giants of THIS year are exactly same as last season? So we should be seeing Osi tonight starting against the browns? How about Strahan is he suiting up? Wait, your entire secondary is the same right? I’m sure you haven’t made any adjustments at all.

You should have said that the Redskins are a good team and you beat them…not draw back to last season…that’s just goofy.
