Giants at Bucs, Open Thread

FINAL: Giants 24, Bucs 14

Game: Giants at Buccaneers
Time: 1 p.m. ET

I don't have much more to say on this one, other than I'm fired up and ready for the game to start.

This is your open thread.

Hopefully, next week we are talking about the next round instead of next season.

And I'm fired up too! Go Gmen!
If I'm going to break them, I'm going to break them both. - LT

All I can say is
POKE THEIR DAMN EYES OUT, BIG BLUE!

Inactives
Courtesy of Ernie Palladino's Giants Journal.

Jared Lorenzen (third QB)
RB Danny Ware
CB Sam Madison
C Shaun O'Hara
DB Geoffrey Pope
WR Sinorice Moss
DT Manny Wright
TE Jerome Collins

That means we'll see at least some of Corey Webster today, and maybe a lot depending on how much Kevin Dockery can play.

Gray Reugamer will play for Shaun O'Hara, so that hurt the offensive line.

Kawika Mitchell will play.

So, last week's stellar effort against New England ends up costing the Giants two key players. Let's hope that doesn't end up killing them today.

A Good Thing
One plus to today's game is (and I know some could care less) that Walt Coleman and his crew WILL NOT be officiating this game.

This is reminding me
of Dan Reeves again. Could we be any more predictable on 3rd down?

by GAgiantfan on Jan 6, 2008 1:22 PM EST reply actions

Tough start
Three 3-and-outs. We need to figure out a way to get these guys blocked and make some plays. Also, where is the blitz on d? Nothing but vanilla so far.

Eli and Toomer
were absolutely great on that TD drive.  We needed that.

by NYinCalifornia on Jan 6, 2008 1:56 PM EST reply actions

They made us change our game plan, but in the
secound half they'll have to change theirs.  I've never seen Eli throw the short ball so well.

Loving Eli right now
Have to be impressed with the way he commanded the Giants -- and threw darts -- on those two touchdown drives. Say a prayer that Eli and the Giants can keep this up.

Bright Orange
Pam Oliver looks like the Sunkist orange today.

Corey Webster is having some game
I've killed dude a lot over the years but he looks like the player we were told we're getting. BTW, this is downside of Garcia he simply can't beat you deep.

by DoctorK16 on Jan 6, 2008 2:57 PM EST reply actions

No deep threats
Galloway is hurt, Ike is old.  Really, all they have is is the short game. Also, Giants pass rush does a lot to take away the deep game, not giving time for the plays to develop

its funny when Aikman
talks about receivers pushing off because he benefited from playing with the master at that in Irvin.

by DoctorK16 on Jan 6, 2008 3:11 PM EST reply actions

Damn FOX!!
Missed half of that last TD drive. How the hell can you lose the picture on a 70 degree, sunny day. Geez!! On the bright side, 24-7 baby!! Gotta love it right now.

by Ed Valentine on Jan 6, 2008 3:24 PM EST reply actions

mine stay one
your cable/satellite company must be the culprit

by DoctorK16 on Jan 6, 2008 3:30 PM EST up reply actions

Probably
At least I got the picture back in time to see the last score by the Giants.

looking forward to seeing you
next week at Texas Stadium.

We're coming for you
Better get Romo's ass out of Mexico and get his mind off Jessica's pants!!

by Ed Valentine on Jan 6, 2008 3:57 PM EST up reply actions

Romo will play well
I can guarantee you that, but T.O. is the key. If he's healthy, it will be 3 for 3 baby.

Oh, man!
It's way too soon to start arguing with you. I'm gonna enjoy this for a couple of days before I even think about it.

Great Win
Never saw Eli make so many pump and eye fakes.  Kilbride did a good job.  Two more games like this, we're in the SB

by george cronin on Jan 6, 2008 3:57 PM EST reply actions

Beautiful beautiful stuff
Man Eli is looking fantastic. If he plays the way he played these last two weeks, there's no reason we can't be in the NFC Championship and even, dare I say it, no I won't, I don't want to jinx it.

by maw150 on Jan 6, 2008 4:13 PM EST reply actions

They lose and they're still talking...
"They didn't seem particularly impressed by Manning or the Giants' offense.
'He made little, annoying third-down conversions when he needed to,' linebacker Barrett Ruud said. 'If it is third-and-8, he gets 8 1/2 yards. That was frustrating.'"

From Yahoo! sports

We do what we need to do to win.

by NYinCalifornia on Jan 6, 2008 5:36 PM EST reply actions

its called ball control offense
Ruud should pop in a game tape or 2 of a NFC east game. Idiot.

by DoctorK16 on Jan 6, 2008 5:46 PM EST up reply actions

Bucs need to shut up
Giants did what they had to to win the game. They get to go home. Screw them!

by Ed Valentine on Jan 6, 2008 6:50 PM EST up reply actions

Wow
I didn't peg that team as a bunch of whiny b*&%h#s, but they are. Haven't we heard this BS before?

Yep
Absolutely amazed by the whining.

by Ed Valentine on Jan 6, 2008 7:41 PM EST up reply actions

they were dominated
take out the first quarter and the giants did what they wanted.

that 15 play, 92 yard drive was a thing of beauty and maybe the best drive that i have ever seen in almost 20 years of watching giants football.
