Let's get this started!
I'm not sanguine about this season (and it appears that I'm not alone here), but that goes out the window once game time rolls around.  KICK DALLAS' ASS!!!!

I'll be back around game time.  Right now, it's time to watch Pedro Martinez make his Shea debut and mow down the Astros.

Come back Tiki!!!

Get ready for a butt whoopin
Giants fans.

GO COWBOYS!!

by Terry @ Big Blue View on Sep 9, 2007 7:11 PM EDT reply actions

the jacobs era
begins.  It is going to be weird not being able to turn to Tiki in the 4th quarter.  I'm interested to see if Strahan sees limited action.

by seamus on Sep 9, 2007 8:24 PM EDT reply actions

WOW!!!!
Manning his his receiver right in stride!!!!  I never thought I'd see this day!!!!
Come back Tiki!!!

by Greenpoint Ian on Sep 9, 2007 8:27 PM EDT reply actions

That was sweet!
Too bad the PAT brought around memories of Trey Junkin.

by Mr Met @ Big Blue View on Sep 9, 2007 8:34 PM EDT up reply actions

nice
Touchdown Burress!

btw, Seeing no Parcells on the Dallas sideline is comforting...

by seamus on Sep 9, 2007 8:30 PM EDT reply actions

So Strahan...
is playing only 3rd downs?

by HeAvyHiTTer218 on Sep 9, 2007 8:33 PM EDT reply actions

What's with our horrible
pass coverage?

by HeAvyHiTTer218 on Sep 9, 2007 8:35 PM EDT reply actions

No offense to Justin Tuck,
but we need Strahan to play all 3 downs.

by HeAvyHiTTer218 on Sep 9, 2007 8:39 PM EDT reply actions

And the D bends
but does not break.

by Mr Met @ Big Blue View on Sep 9, 2007 8:39 PM EDT reply actions

that was quick
Not even through the 1st quarter and Umeniyora is headed to the locker room.  Wonderful.
Come back Tiki!!!

by Greenpoint Ian on Sep 9, 2007 8:41 PM EDT reply actions

phew!
Finally stopped a third down.  Need to do better, but at least we kept them out of the end zone.

Osi hurt is not good.

by seamus on Sep 9, 2007 8:41 PM EDT reply actions

Damnit. Did not want Strahan
to play the whole game in replacement of Osi.

by HeAvyHiTTer218 on Sep 9, 2007 8:48 PM EDT reply actions

having missed camp
I'd worry about Strahan's stamina to play the whole game.

by seamus on Sep 9, 2007 8:50 PM EDT up reply actions

that sucked
6 inches from 13-3.  Damn.

So far, Manning isn't tossing wounded ducks into double coverage.  His passes look great.

Come back Tiki!!!

by Greenpoint Ian on Sep 9, 2007 8:50 PM EDT reply actions

i like the call
I like the decision to go for it.  That said, I was disappointed with having Ward in on 3rd and short and not Brandon.  3rd and 5+ I'd be ok with it.

by seamus on Sep 9, 2007 8:54 PM EDT reply actions

geez
how many 3rd and long conversions is the secondary going to give up?
Come back Tiki!!!

by Greenpoint Ian on Sep 9, 2007 8:57 PM EDT reply actions

I hope they make a bobblehead of Romo
getting that snap he wasn't expecting.

by Mr Met @ Big Blue View on Sep 9, 2007 9:00 PM EDT reply actions

yeah what a dork
red 24, red 24, hut hut -- whooaoaoaaoaoa heeeeeeeey!!!!!!

by DieEaglesDie on Sep 9, 2007 9:03 PM EDT up reply actions

ok
I'll take some self-destruction on the part of Dallas' offense.
Come back Tiki!!!

by Greenpoint Ian on Sep 9, 2007 9:00 PM EDT reply actions

so nice to see toomer out there
he makes a big difference

by DieEaglesDie on Sep 9, 2007 9:04 PM EDT reply actions

Eli's really zipping the ball.
Me likey.

by Mr Met @ Big Blue View on Sep 9, 2007 9:05 PM EDT reply actions

Wade Phillips has one of those faces
that I'm glad to see on the other sideline.

by Mr Met @ Big Blue View on Sep 9, 2007 9:06 PM EDT reply actions

To tell the truth
Coughlin does too, but, well, can't win 'em all I guess.

by Mr Met @ Big Blue View on Sep 9, 2007 9:10 PM EDT up reply actions

BULLSHIT!!!!
Where are the blocks?!?!

by HeAvyHiTTer218 on Sep 9, 2007 9:16 PM EDT reply actions

ugh
Manning and Jacobs could be the greatest QB-RB tandem in Giants history, but this team isn't going to win much if the defense can't tackle.
Come back Tiki!!!

by Greenpoint Ian on Sep 9, 2007 9:17 PM EDT reply actions

awful tackling
webster completely punked out.

by DieEaglesDie on Sep 9, 2007 9:18 PM EDT reply actions

I hope the botched PAT
doesn't define the winner of this game.

by HeAvyHiTTer218 on Sep 9, 2007 9:18 PM EDT reply actions

there was a major hold
on that TD.  Whitten was holding (Kiwi?)..

by seamus on Sep 9, 2007 9:19 PM EDT reply actions

damn
that sucked.

by seamus on Sep 9, 2007 9:24 PM EDT reply actions

dammit
That wasn't Manning's fault.

Maybe the roof will cave in on the Giants bench, considering how snakebitten they've been so far tonight.

Come back Tiki!!!

by Greenpoint Ian on Sep 9, 2007 9:24 PM EDT reply actions

wtf plax
get some new turf spikes.  jesus.

by DieEaglesDie on Sep 9, 2007 9:25 PM EDT reply actions

pressure?
How about knocking Romo down for once?
Come back Tiki!!!

by Greenpoint Ian on Sep 9, 2007 9:28 PM EDT reply actions

FUCK
Where is the pressure? WHERE?

by HeAvyHiTTer218 on Sep 9, 2007 9:30 PM EDT reply actions

another 3rd and long converted
The Giants secondary is awful, but their pass rush might be even worse.
Come back Tiki!!!

by Greenpoint Ian on Sep 9, 2007 9:30 PM EDT reply actions

Whatever our scheme was for Witten
it needs a review.  Stat.

by Mr Met @ Big Blue View on Sep 9, 2007 9:31 PM EDT reply actions

I wonder if letting go of
Lavar and Emmons was a mistake.

by HeAvyHiTTer218 on Sep 9, 2007 9:33 PM EDT reply actions

Strined right knee, they said.
More tests tomorrow.

by Mr Met @ Big Blue View on Sep 9, 2007 9:39 PM EDT up reply actions

Jacobs
That is not good. I can't see the Giantrs running game in the hands of D Ward for a long period of time.

by Ed Valentine on Sep 9, 2007 9:56 PM EDT up reply actions

Tlaking about Tiki coming back
that might be the one way he can redeem himself.

Nice job by Shockey there getting the 1st.

by Mr Met @ Big Blue View on Sep 9, 2007 9:39 PM EDT reply actions

With the way we're playing,
Coughlin will be out by week 5.

by HeAvyHiTTer218 on Sep 9, 2007 9:41 PM EDT reply actions

Eli
I've been his biggest detractor over the past two seasons, but I'm really, really impressed with his performance tonight.

That was huge to get back into the game right before the half.

Come back Tiki!!!

by Greenpoint Ian on Sep 9, 2007 9:46 PM EDT reply actions

Your assertion is correct.
Hopefully this performance continues throughout the season and this game.

-Nice fumble recovery, Giants.

by HeAvyHiTTer218 on Sep 9, 2007 9:48 PM EDT up reply actions

Eli
Playing really well so far. The INT was not his fault. Can't do a thing about a receiver falling down.

by Ed Valentine on Sep 9, 2007 9:59 PM EDT up reply actions

Beautimous!
Damn PAT the difference right now.

by Mr Met @ Big Blue View on Sep 9, 2007 9:50 PM EDT reply actions

alright!
If not for the flubbed snap on the first PAT, this would be tied.  Either way, this is a game again.
Come back Tiki!!!

For forcing that fumble.
Come back Tiki!!!

by Greenpoint Ian on Sep 9, 2007 9:54 PM EDT up reply actions

It's a ballgame
Don't know about you guys, but I love what I've seen from Eli so far. The Jacobs thing stinks and I hope it's not serious -- Osi, too. How many injuries can one team have?

Gotta love big plays from the special teams. Fired up for the second half, but praying like hell it doesn't come down to Jay Alford needing to make a good snap to win the game.

by Ed Valentine on Sep 9, 2007 9:58 PM EDT reply actions

lots of good things from that half
the negatives werent too bad except for the injuries.  both osi and jacobs going down in the same half blows.

by DieEaglesDie on Sep 9, 2007 10:02 PM EDT up reply actions

The defense is in turmoil
right now. We need to somehow shutdown Witten.

by HeAvyHiTTer218 on Sep 9, 2007 10:01 PM EDT reply actions

Does anyone know if Arron Ross
is playing as CB? I'm quite positive I saw him on at least one play.

by HeAvyHiTTer218 on Sep 9, 2007 10:03 PM EDT reply actions

I've seen him in
on a few plays.  He made one good play, though I don't recall which one.  I just sort of remember thinking "good job"

Remember when the Giants used to be built around suffocating defense?

I miss those days.

Come back Tiki!!!

by Greenpoint Ian on Sep 9, 2007 10:11 PM EDT reply actions

Anyone have glue?
Probably the only way the Giants can hold the ball securely.

by HeAvyHiTTer218 on Sep 9, 2007 10:16 PM EDT reply actions

anybody have a decent RB?
that they can spare?

by DieEaglesDie on Sep 9, 2007 10:25 PM EDT reply actions

Love the sack.
Hate the histrionics.

by Mr Met @ Big Blue View on Sep 9, 2007 10:30 PM EDT reply actions

Yes, sir, he did.
A Giant win tonight and I won't even mind going to work tomorrow.

by Mr Met @ Big Blue View on Sep 9, 2007 10:32 PM EDT up reply actions

Does anyone know
how many comments we usually accumulated last season?

by HeAvyHiTTer218 on Sep 9, 2007 10:37 PM EDT reply actions

Well, that was depressing.
Fortunately it didn't last long.

by Mr Met @ Big Blue View on Sep 9, 2007 10:41 PM EDT reply actions

11 men?
Doesn't it seem like the Giants only have like 7 or 8 guys on defense, and only 2 of them are defensive backs?
Come back Tiki!!!

by Greenpoint Ian on Sep 9, 2007 10:42 PM EDT reply actions

take witten out
with extreme prejudice

by DieEaglesDie on Sep 9, 2007 10:42 PM EDT reply actions

no Jacobs hurts
The running game (save that burst by Ward) has been derailed without Jacobs.
Come back Tiki!!!

by Greenpoint Ian on Sep 9, 2007 10:47 PM EDT reply actions

that FG doesnt help us mch
i'd almost say you go for it there.  its still 2 scores now that we got it.

by DieEaglesDie on Sep 9, 2007 10:53 PM EDT reply actions

Yeah I agree.
It sucks still being two scores down, especially playing without a defense as we are.  But there is a lot of time left, I guess.

by Mr Met @ Big Blue View on Sep 9, 2007 10:54 PM EDT up reply actions

now we are really screwed
plus if youre going to get a personal foul on TO make sure you actually F him up.

gibril

by seamus on Sep 9, 2007 10:55 PM EDT reply actions

Goodnight everyone
I've got to get some sleep so I can start my conditioning program.  I'm going to try out for the Giants' secondary.  They could probably use me.
Come back Tiki!!!

by Greenpoint Ian on Sep 9, 2007 10:56 PM EDT reply actions

You could probably play
better than the Giant's secondary without conditioning.

by HeAvyHiTTer218 on Sep 9, 2007 11:00 PM EDT up reply actions

Really?
Your God dates fat chicks then.

by Mr Met @ Big Blue View on Sep 9, 2007 11:11 PM EDT up reply actions

Come one defense.
Stop them please. We need at least two possessions.

by HeAvyHiTTer218 on Sep 9, 2007 11:11 PM EDT reply actions

Great play call
The play call for the TD was fantastic.  Went right at the spot that Ware was vacating with his early jumps on the silent snap.

by Mr Met @ Big Blue View on Sep 9, 2007 11:15 PM EDT reply actions

by Mr Met @ Big Blue View on Sep 9, 2007 11:25 PM EDT reply actions

Nice effort by the offense.
The defense is a complete joke.  If those guys don't come back from their injuries pretty quick then our season is finished already.

by Mr Met @ Big Blue View on Sep 9, 2007 11:30 PM EDT reply actions

This shitty defense
cost us the game. Learn to contain and pressure the offense.

by HeAvyHiTTer218 on Sep 9, 2007 11:30 PM EDT reply actions

We should not need
to score 35 points a game to win.

by HeAvyHiTTer218 on Sep 9, 2007 11:31 PM EDT reply actions

i'm kind of speechless
on the defense.  They look so bad.  It really hurts.  Even taking into account our injuries, it is hard to understand how our secondary can be this bad.

A few quick thoughts
Wow! Thanks to everybody who jumped in and made this a lively place during the game.

A tough loss. Defensively, very disappointing to say the least. No pressure, no coverage and no adjustments. Not an impressive start as DC for Steve Spagnuolo.

Let's just hope Eli and Jacobs are OK. Eli was terrific. I can't remember one really bad play by him all night.

Goodnight, Big Blue View Nation. Back in the morning with some hopefully coherent thoughts.
