Link-fest! Stories galore about the Giants

Let's look around today and see what other folks are writing about when it comes to the Giants.

• ESPN's Page 2 takes a look at which current NFL players have a shot at the Hall of Fame. Michael Strahan is listed as 13th most likely to be enshrined.

• If Strahan decides not to play this season, Justin Tuck is ready for the opportunity to step in.

• The Star-Ledger's Mike Garafolo reports on last night's practice.

• Rookie wide receiver Steve Smith is documenting his experiences at training camp for Giants.com.

Jeremy Shockey told the New York Post that he hopes to be a leader for the Giants this season.

Practice Reports
I've been reading those practice reports and it seems that for the battle at CB, Webster is playing really well early on. Let's hope he keeps this up. I'd love for him to solidify that spot and be the player he was expected to be.

I also hope Shockey keeps this attitude through the whole season. That would be a major breakthrough. I'm a little worried about Diehl, however. It sounds like he's been getting beat regularly. He did play there last year didn't he? Is this really a new position for him if he played there already? Is it just because he has to face Osi every day?

If I'm going to break them, I'm going to break them both. - LT

Diehl
I think he only played one game at LT. He has very limited experience there. Some of it might be facing Osi, but his struggles are a cause for concern.

sidenote: possible competition for rice?
it was reported today that simeon rice was visiting tennessee's camp.  i know he was supposed to take a physical with the giants but im not sure how that panned out.  reese can't be patient with this strahan situation and it sounds like if he's going to get rice, he has to make the move now.

Rice
Not sure how badly the Giants really want Rice. they let him leave town without a contract offer, and that tells me they weren't dying to have him. If Strahan doesn't play, I think you will see Kiwanuka at DE at least some of the time. I read in one of the practice reports that he has been lining up at DE is the nickel package. Even if they use him at LB, that's one way to get around the problems he has been having with pass coverage.
